This is a guesthouse that offers rooms with or without breakfast at a price described on various websites as modest. It is implied that this is a some sort of "pension" a place that implies being cozy, homey and comfortable. Very far from reality and I'm speaking from my heart, as I truly believe future customers deserve an honest opinion. 135€ per night in low season is not a bargain and a minimum level of service is expected. The room was small and, although we were the only ones on the property, we were unable to request a room with a balcony, even though we asked for one Would that be so hard to get? Ok, perhaps the place is packed. What a surprise to see we were the only customers. Empty parking lot, empty corridors and definitely not a single person from the place to ask anything. The room was fine, but I have seen larger closets than this one. Looking at previous reviews we were lucky to have hot water. However, the room was quite cold and we had to sleep with several extra items of clothing. It must be crazy to pretend to sleep without cold? I don't expect this place to be as warm as the Bahamas. Again, we are talking about minimum requirements, which were barely met. There was also no extra bedding, e.g. an extra blanket. I understand that they are wary of possible theft, but here we here we are talking about Germany, in October. Again, I'm talking about minimum requirements. Let's imagine that there is a problem with the bedsheets -families with children, hello?-. Well, we simply had a mattress cover and not even a fitted sheet. In addition, only one of the two lamps we had worked.I understand that since the end of summer they have not had many guests but it is small details that make a difference. We also had a problem with the hallway alarm going off because the battery was not sufficient. As a result there was a constant beeping, a very annoying experience when you are trying to get some rest. We tried to contact the front desk, as they provide you with a number for emergencies. In my experience, people don't answer the phone or the front desk after 8pm. It seems like a joke. Honestly, I hope no guest is in an emergency situation, because then I wish them the best of luck. They have also offer the option of a "shared fridge". It is a maximum of 4L. fridge, you can reach it in the middle of the hallway of the -1 floor. We found it by chance. Interestingly, you are supposed to share that one with the rest of the building. I suppose that one should be tagging their own products? Literally as if we were in a rented apartment with flatmates. What if someone decide to steal or eat your food? Honestly we didn't have the chance to try it as it was already turned off when we arrived.I would definitely not recommend this place. Please, make yourself a valuable favor and find a worth guesthouse.

We had a great family room. Everything was clean and new, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was perfect. We had nothing to contend with at all. The location by the lake is also great and we didn't notice any of the often mentioned street noise. Therefore I can only warmly recommend the family room. The price/performance ratio is simply right here. We'll definitely be back!

Rooms are basic but clean and a decent size. It’s about a 10 min walk to various restaurants bars. It’s self check in so MAKE SURE YOU get the code prior to arrival. (Code is to open key lock for your key). Would certainly recommend staying here as long as you don’t expect a luxury hotel!

Already 3 years ago there was a note in a Google review: “When checking in, the language was apparently a problem for the on-site staff. Therefore, further requests and inquiries were out of the question.”That's how it was now: my hosts didn't understand a word of German! On no other trip abroad have I encountered such a level of linguistic incomprehension as with these hosts! I consider it impossible for a tourist-oriented guesthouse in a high-profile tourist area.Although the hosts were initially nice, a different face emerged at the end of the stay when I billed: When I pulled out my debit card, this method of payment was rejected with strange indignation. I was forced to pay in cash. - My request for a receipt was not fulfilled, something about “email” was mumbled. To date nothing has come...The operator's address is Hotel Group AG, Kornweg 5, 5506 Mägenwil, Switzerland. Is this perhaps the source of the evil?

Because of the very different, some very negative reviews, we were a bit surprised. Our room was clean and newly renovated. The bathroom in the 70s/80s style, but absolutely clean and tidy. The telephone contact directly on site (we spontaneously stopped here and wanted to stay overnight) went absolutely smoothly and quickly. Everything works with a key safe etc. Very well. The breakfast was not a bargain at 15 euros per person, but it was rich and lovingly prepared. We extended another night by telephone on site, which worked quickly and without any problems. The two very friendly employees who prepared breakfast only speak Italian, but their extremely nice and loving manner, a smile and the translation program on their cell phone left nothing to be desired.Small point deduction, sleeping with the window open on the B 500 is not easy. The MOT on the elevator, which expired in 2017, should also be mentioned.Otherwise, we would be happy to come back here for a spontaneous visit to Schluchsee.

Horror trip in the Scharzwald. The bedroom window is located on the ground floor, less than 15 meters from the federal highway 500. The trucks, cars and motorcycles thunder past the bed without any noise protection. Anyone who knows the B500 knows what that means!!!The sanitary facilities allow you to travel back in time to the 70s. The shower head has to be held in place when showering and cannot be attached to anything. Mold and decaying plaster complete the impression.By far the worst accommodation on our trip. 130.- € without breakfast for a double room leaves you speechless!!!!!

We were very positively surprised. The rooms and the rest of the accommodation were very clean. The two nice Italian employees were very friendly. The breakfast was good. All in all, a top price-performance ratio. In the evening we were able to sit on the terrace in front of the breakfast room and watch the magnificent fireworks from the Lake Night Festival from there. We were also able to store our bikes safely. We cannot judge why some of the reviews here are not so good. Maybe it's because something has now been upgraded (service and furnishings) or because these are the type of guests who think they don't have to pay much and still get 4 star accommodation.

After the less good reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised by the friendliness and cleanliness.Rooms are newly renovated and lovingly furnished. Even a kettle, tea/coffee and mineral water available. Bathroom still in the old style but very clean with a hairdryer.
