We arrived at the self help check in with pouring rain & the system was not working...there was like 10 people already waiting with same problem...we contacted service lady & about an hour later someone came but still made us stand in the rain outside...the rooms are totally not what's advertised...there is a tiny winding staircase about 5 floors to get to the tiny room...the room was really really tiny...you could not even turn properly or out your bags anywhere...the beds were just way too uncomfortable...the bathroom was tiny...the noise from outside streets is bad at night as there is a restaurant at the bottom...do'nt be fooled by the price ...it's just not worth it for the inconvenience especially if your're older or bigger...it's basically a back packer room...

Check in at the machine was ok. The pin entry in the room was catastrophic! The light kept turning off when trying to enter the first pin. The room was nice, well furnished, but not clean enough. Had hair in the bed that wasn't mine

Everything is bad except the location, but there are many hotels with good locations other than this hotel, so please go to another hotel!!I had a hard time checking in non-face-to-face at an unmanned motel for a long time.There is no elevator and the stairs are narrow... It's really hardPlease don't goThe bedding is full of foreign substances.

This place was terrible. Boiling, BOILING hot, no one to help you when you have issues, and on the last day I realized there were ants in our room. The shower switched between boiling hot and freezing cold, nothing in our room worked. Don’t stay here.

Unfortunately our stay with this place was quite troubling. I read the reviews from the past before coming, and figured the building being too hot wouldn’t be an issue in October, nor would I need early check in, an elevator etc. However it ended up being much worse than I thought. There was a line to get into the hotel when we got there as no one could figure out the check in. There are not staff on site at all to assist. Once we figured out check in, we got to our room to discover it was in fact extremely warm. This made sleeping well almost impossible. But what made sleeping even harder was finding toe nails in our bed. I’m not confident they changed the bedding at all. Also, our tv was shattered. The room is not much bigger than the bed itself. I emailed my concerns to them and no one replied. This place sincerely needs to be looked at by the city of Köln.

Not recommended for longer staysI spent two nights at the Smarty Hotel Cologne, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay. As soon as I entered the bathroom I noticed that the toilet had not been cleaned properly. There were stains and debris under the toilet seat that I had to clean myself. The lamps were also covered in a thick layer of dust, which significantly spoiled the overall impression of cleanliness.The walls in the room were extremely thin so you could hear every noise from the neighboring rooms, making a peaceful sleep almost impossible. In addition, the walls were dirty in some places, as if something had been spilled there.In my mother's room there was also the problem that there was a strong smell of food all the time because there is a Turkish restaurant under the hotel. The smell was very unpleasant and pungent.The stairwell was also in poor condition: it smelled unpleasant and was quite dirty. The TV in the room didn't work, which further detracted from the stay. There was no contact person on site and could only be reached by telephone, which was rather impractical if there were problems on site.In addition, the rooms were significantly smaller than shown in the photos on the website. There was so little space in the room with the bunk beds that you couldn't even put your suitcase anywhere, which made the stay very uncomfortable.Check-in was unnecessarily complicated, especially if you have a last name with special characters like “ü” or a hyphen. Additionally, there was only a PIN code for the room door, with no additional lock in the room, which I personally found unsafe.The only positive thing was the central location of the hotel, as you can quickly get to the city center, and the good WiFi, which worked reliably. The hotel may be fine for short stays, but I wouldn't recommend it for longer stays.

Don't go. It's the worst haha. How can this be a hotel? There's a reason it's cheap. First of all, there's no one there. It's an unmanned motel and you have to call internationally to ask how to check in.

Room and bathroom very small, check-in terminal at the entrance has no ü, very noisy, payment at check-in, price 18 above the price of the booking confirmation, window to the inner courtyard with a view of the neighbors, toilet seat loose.Very close to the city center.Expected more for the price.

Check-in was quick and easy.You entered the hotel entrance and the first thing you smelled was the snack bar next door, which is right in the stairwell.Then we went steeply up to the 3rd floor without an elevator.Just before the room door there was an anteroom that was quite heated. It was the same in the room, only worse.The bathroom felt like a sauna, which was unbearable because there was no window and therefore no draft was possible.We then discovered that the soap dispenser was empty on the first day.The only thing surviving in the room was the hospitable water and the fan.Otherwise we were very satisfied because everything is within walking distance.

All in all ok. Help with online check-in can be reached immediately by phone and hassle-free.Rooms new and clean. Our request for a room on the first floor was immediately granted.However, the price was very high for it. 1 night for 1 double room for 202 euros is quite steep.No elevator, no air conditioning.

We were here 2 daysWhere we arrived there was no soap on the first morning. Nothing was done in our room, neither towels, toilet paper nor fresh towels were brought to us until we called serviceA nice gentleman had to bring everything to us separately because the cleaner wasn't in our room, but there was no soap the entire stay and we had to get the bed linen ourselves!! WiFi hardly works either and the room wasn't really clean either.I will never spend €300 for 2 nights and such service again!!!!!

I have to say this was disappointing on many levels. Location is good next to train station but hotel is super expensive, does not have elevator. I got room on 4th floor it is like climbing Everest and there is no one to help you with luggage. in rooms there is 60 degrees, no AC and it is impossible to be inside. Luckly I was here in September so at night with open windows I could sleep (no net on windows, so you are choosing either to suffocate or mosquitoes). I do not have clue how people could survive here in mid of summer. Inhumane. Terrible. 139 eur per night... Cannot be called hotel.

Worst hotel experience I've ever had. There were problems at check-in alone. If you have umlauts (Ä/Ö/Ü) in your name it is very complicated, even the employee had to try several times.The room was a total disaster. Extremely small, so it was really difficult for two people to move around. It was so stuffy that it was hard to sleep, even with a fan. Proper ventilation was also not possible because the window was on the courtyard side. On the first day the room had a strange smell, which was very unpleasant. But things got better once you sprayed enough deodorant.The bathroom was so small that you couldn't even turn around. The bathroom also smelled bad, which was probably due to the drain.Very narrow stairwell with steep steps.The slamming of the front door and the intermediate doors could probably be heard throughout the entire “hotel”.The TV had a SmartTV function, so you could watch YouTube on the TV without any problems if the WiFi wasn't constantly gone.Small fridge + a water bottle and a fan were the only positive things.

I am clear that I am not going to return. The problem comes with check-in and telephone help. We arrived at 1am after a long trip, I prepared to check-in at the outside machine and to my surprise, once I completed the details and paid the €2.50 to seniors (which had already been withdrawn from my account) I It gives an error and returns to the home screen without giving me the card to enter. I contact the number that appears on the door, and a girl who had less idea than me answers. She gives me the room number with the code that was not, I call her again and after 3 attempts she answers the call, I tell her the new problem (we could not access the room with the code she gave us) and she tells us He can't help us, let's look for another hotel. We were lucky because our room neighbor was listening to the conversation and came out to help us, since speaking German, the “help” understood the problem and gave him the code (which was not the same one he gave us) and the door. it opened. We were able to sleep in the room that night, I can't say the same for another guy who had the same problem, we told the “help” and he hung up the phone on us and left it outside. Think twice about staying at this hotel.

The hotel is 4 floors and called smart with no elevator, so u must pick ur heavy bag on the stairs, iin addition to that u have to make every thing out side the hotel and they will not let u in, and they called that express check in and check outThe manager is replying the reviews and do nothing to fix the situation, ur employee saw my heavy big bag and as she is very smart she gave the fouth floor room, and i took the bag on the stairs, no phone in the room, please do something practical not complicated just to show off that u have smart hotel, instead of that put smart employee and smart google page manager
