The location is the best thing about this hotel. A couple years ago, I had arrived late in Hamburg and needed a place to spend the night near the Central Station. Unfortunately, it's an old building, so the elevator does not work on all floors. The room was small and so was the breakfast room. No luggage storage for more than a short amount of time. I would recommend the hotel only if you are traveling light.

The hotel is in a really convenient location you can walk from the train station to the hotel, breakfast is good, rooms have an ok size for 1 person or a couple, shower was a little bit small but ok, don’t expect luxury as is a good option only to sleep, it’s clean and well maintained overall, staff is ok too

It is a good hotel. Much of the room charge goes to its strategic location near the Central Station and the lake. The receptionists are exemplary, the best any hotel could ever have. Room service is average. There were some towels with stains.

I recently stayed at the Novum Hotel Norddeutscher Hof located near the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) in Hamburg, Germany, and I have a mixed review of my experience. One of the standout aspects of this hotel is its excellent location. It's incredibly convenient for travelers arriving by train, as it's just a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof. This central location also means that many of Hamburg's top attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas are easily accessible on foot or via public transportation. However, the positives somewhat end there. The hotel itself felt a bit dated and in need of renovation. The décor in both common areas and rooms appeared worn, which gave the impression of a somewhat neglected property. The room I stayed in was functional but lacked the modern amenities and style that I typically expect from a hotel in this price range. The service at the hotel was decent but not particularly memorable. Staff members were polite and provided the necessary assistance, but there was room for improvement in terms of friendliness and enthusiasm. One of the significant downsides of my stay was the noise level. The hotel's proximity to the train station meant that there was a constant rumble of train and tram traffic, which could be disruptive, especially if you're a light sleeper. On a more positive note, the hotel did offer a basic breakfast buffet, which was convenient for starting the day with some sustenance before heading out to explore the city.In summary, the Novum Hotel Norddeutscher Hof's greatest asset is its location, making it a practical choice for travelers who prioritize easy access to transportation and city attractions. However, the aging interior, noise level, and overall value for the price leave room for improvement. It may be worth considering if convenience is your top priority, but keep your expectations in check in terms of modern amenities and aesthetics.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Unhygienic! Bedbugs!!! I was bitten all down my legs and the staff refused to believe me. Fruit flies on the bread at breakfast.Dirty carpets and curtains, and clearly also mattresses! These are all photos of the dirty sheets in the bedrooms I was put in!No slippers in the rooms so unless you bring your own prepare to walk on the bedbug infested carpet 🤮Incredibly rude and unhelpful staff at times. Announced my room number loudly and repeatedly when I was came in, as a small woman travelling alone, in front of other guests. Refused to believe me about the bedbugs (confirmed by the pharmacist, who gave me hospital recommendation!) even after seeing the bites and photos of stains on sheets.Took my friends coming in to fight for me to get a different room and VERY small partial refund for the bedbugs (which I did not even end up receiving)The new room was not clean. Sticky stuff on pillowcases, pen marks on bedsheets, etc. Upon checking out they offered me a €9 refund (1 breakfast!!) for all my troubles. This did not even cover my half of laundry costs from the bedbugs. They did not even end up giving me this refund as they started checking in other guests while I had a flight to catch. They also gave me incorrect information on breakfast times, making me miss a breakfast anyway! Also incredibly basic. No WiFi in some of the rooms. Just avoid.

The bedroom wasn’t even vaguely like the one in the photos. It was tiny. No bedside table or light switch. Two beds squashed in against the walls with a few inches between, a radiator for a headboard. The carpet was grubby. One mattress was soft and uncomfortable. The quilts smelled strongly of bleach. The location was great for the station the centre. The breakfast wasn’t bad.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel in February and it met our expectations. We were coming from Turkey and our flight was cancelled due to the bad weather, we told them that we would come 2 days later. They were very helpful & they didn't make us suffer once again. The room and beds were very clean, which was very important for us. Location was amazing. I personally think the breakfast was also good and average. The only thing that I didn't like was that we had to give our key to the receptionist every time we left the hotel. If your main goal is to travel and not stay at the hotel 24/7, I think that cleanliness, location and breakfast are the most important factors, and for that part, it met my expectations. I think it is suitable enough for travelling couples.

Perfect location, but the hotel is old, reparation is needed. the staff mixed up the rooms and provided a double bed instead of separate beds. There were no vacant rooms with separate beds, the staff said that they could not do anything. however, then they found a triple room instead of a double (a little lower class). Outrageous. Breakfast is boring, no vegan options

Without a doubt, it is the worst hotel we have stayed in in our lives.|Worst of all was the rude and impolite treatment of the gentleman at the reception. He was rude, spoiled and did not give us a solution to the problem. …
