Owner is arrogant and tried to steal our money. Tried to charge for two rooms we had cancelled. Harassed us for the third room we had paid for, threatening to call the police. When we sent proof of payment we heard nothing back no apology or confirmation that we had in fact paid. Reading other reviews we now think it was a scam and he was trying to make us pay twice. All he had to do was say sorry my mistake but nothing.Update. After telling us to pay him for the room and get the refund from the booking agent. We said no problem when we get the money back we can pay you. We have not heard back. He was paid by the agent for sure or is in dispute due to complaints. He is trying to scam money. Be very careful with this guy. Its a small town and our friend who lives there had heard about him so he has a reputation. I would not give him your credit card as you may find you have been double charged he seems like that sort of guy. We have had no apology or anything from him.

Owner tried to scam us by attempting to charge us twice for a room even though we gave proof that we had already paid by credit card via booking dot com. No apology or anythings, even after providing the proof. We only got threatened with police.

Stayed here for a very brief stopover on a road trip between Berlin and Southern Germany. Hotel Bayerischer Hof is in a beautifully restored half-timbered house right on the market square in the beautiful old town of Muennerstadt. …

Rude owner tride to scam us and threatened to report us to police because we didn't hand money over.We booked a room via Booking.com. We payed for it by credit card two weeks before arriving.I arrived, stayed the night, and left. A few hours later, the owner began harassing me via SMS, in a very rude and condescending tone. He even threatened me with the police. He wanted me to pay the invoice, for which he had already received payment. He refuses to believe that payment in advance via c.c. is even "technically possible", as he "does not offer the option".The owner appears to be absolutely clueless about the operation of his hotel, because, I did, in fact, pay in advance. It's in your best interest to learn how your own business's booking system and payment system operates.Even if you don't know how your business works... just go ahead and double check your accounts, before accusing people of fraud and "not being able to afford a 54 euro room".Unfortunately, I have not heard from him, since supplying the proof of payment. No apology or anything. A simple apology could have avoided getting a 1 star review.Reading through the other reviews, I see that the owner, Mr Richter, has been accused of being very rude and arrogant by a number other unhappy customers. Also, threatening to report customers to the police seems to be a habit of his.My suspicion is that he just assumed I would believe him, and pay the invoice out of ignorance or out fear of being reported to the cops. I bet he knew full well that he already received the payment.Either the owner tried to scam me, or he is just incompetent and very rude. Also, the bathroom was barely bigger than a coffin, and not very clean.
