They have created a very nice getaway from the everyday hustle and stress. If you visit during the summer, one could even think they are outside of Germany and closer to Italy with their architecture, olive trees and beautiful garden. The food at their own restaurant is really good and sitting on the terrace provides beautiful views of Germany, but be aware that the restaurant is closed on Mondays and on Tuesdays. The food at their hotel is quite alright - very basic, but does the job. It's just not easy to always get someone, when you need something - so you should be fine with a more relaxed stay than expecting someone being available right away. The staff is very friendly however and if you need anything, they do their best to help.

This hotel is set in a beautiful old kind of wine estate and belongs to the old fortress restaurant 200m walk down the road in between the vineyards. Room is comfortable, great service and good included breakfast. Last but not least the estate's wine is recommended as well :-)

We had a nice room with a view of the small pond. Everything was clean, the breakfast was OK, the staff was very friendly. In the restaurant the selection was OK rather than extensive, and the prices are quite high. You can book a wine tasting separately or request one or two in the restaurant. If a wine connoisseur serves you, you will also receive recommendations and information.

We stayed at the Landhotel Hofgut with 12 people at Pentecost. Everyone was thrilled with the beautiful rooms. Large and nicely decorated. …

When we arrived there was no staffed reception. Although we had already been to the Burgschänke before, no one there pointed out to us that there was a key there. In the evening, after eating in the Burgschänke, we had to use our cell phone to light our way back to the hotel (approx. 300 m) because the lighting didn't work. The next evening we ate a rump steak for 28 euros, which was completely full of flax. The way home again with your own lamp. Then we wanted to watch a bit of TV, unfortunately on several attempts we always got "no signal". So read.... At breakfast there was only the plate at the table on which everything had to be placed. Unfortunately there were no plates of our own at the buffet.

Very nice farm. The food in the Gutsschänke is good. The room was large and had a nice view. What was disturbing was the crowing of the roosters, which started shortly after four in the morning. The breakfast was disappointing. At 9:30 there was no fruit with the muesli, no tomatoes, cucumbers etc., no eggs (not even when asked) and hot rolls were only served after 10 minutes.

It's a shame about the idyllic place!Unfortunately the restaurant is run by amateurs. Very disappointing service and even worse chef. After we requested the rump steak (tough meat and served very dry, even though we ordered medium), the good mood turned into a very bad one. Of the two rump steaks that tasted very bad, we were only given a new one back in the same plate, which was just as bad. Then the 30-minute discussion began with the chef and ultimately with the owners when we didn't want to pay for one rump steak. To the extent that we were even threatened with police. We only asked that we not be charged for one of the 3 rump steaks we ordered (poorly served). After a lot of back and forth, it was ultimately taken off our bill. Unfortunately, the quality does not match the price charged and the complaint management is poor.Unfortunately, I can't recommend eating at this place, even if it wasn't all bad. Moral: Paid €220 and 3 out of 6 people didn't eat anything.FYI we were not hotel guests. Restaurant visitors only!

(Read my review of Gutschenke Burg Battenberg? The owners are the same...and so is the quality and ambience.)The pictures on the website are very meaningful - and it was correspondingly beautiful inside and out "in real life". Old buildings and new buildings differ in style but still go hand in hand. Our room was one of the “Fernblick” category in the old building and had a beautiful wooden floor. Simply to feel good!(Nothing else was missing either.)The breakfast offers a wide selection and the products are of good quality. Standard cold cuts? None! Cheese is available straight away for you to portion yourself! (The carnivores also get their money's worth.)We stayed for one night and were personally accompanied to the room by Mr. Schraut junior ("I'm said to be the lord of the castle") and when we checked out by his mother Beate Schraut (we got hiking tips from her and she got some from her written down for us).Thank you for an authentic experience and the more than nice contact!

We were in this farm with a larger group, the reception was well, no warm welcome, nothing, you were given the keys and told briefly where the room was and that was it.The room wasn't in the best condition, the floor was dusty, the bed lights were missing a shade, the socket on the TV was half ripped out and you could only get 3 channels, the headboard of the bed was made of fabric and I don't want to know what was there everything landed, the mattresses were sagging, the toilet bowl wasn't particularly clean either, the drawer panel on the bathroom cabinet was hanging down, then we wanted to take a shower, but we couldn't because there was no warm water, that worked later but only cold water at the sink , there was an emergency exit sign in front of our door that was only temporarily attached with adhesive tape but was also hanging down. The bed was made the next day, but the floor wasn't cleaned and the bathroom wasn't cleaned either. We were then given another room, but there were also some deficiencies there. Then the food:ABSOLUTELY NOT SUITABLE FOR ALLERGY SUFFERERSI have a severe nut allergy and ordered a meal that contained nuts in pieces. It wasn't clear on the menu what the ingredients were. There is also no mention of what is used at the bottom of the menu.Normally this has to be marked. My husband also ordered an extra meal because there was nothing for him on the menu. When the food came, the sausages were gristly, the sauerkraut was cold and the fried potatoes were apparently leftovers in the pan, totally burnt and not eaten. And best of all, we had to pay for the food too. When I pointed this out to the boss the next day, all she said was I'll take care of it.But no compensation came. The service staff were all very nice, but they were completely overloaded with a larger group. On the whole the rooms and food are too expensive. The area was very nice, a great location.
