We booked a room in Forsthaus Merzalben and within an hour we got a personal response from the owner. Everything, from checking in to checking out, went smoothly and with lots of love! The owner is a very nice man with a good and happy vibe around him. This was definitely the best stay so far in Germany and I would definitely come back again. The area is beautiful, the rooms clean and comfortable, the owner is very nice and the information given is spot on! Thanks so much for this experience!!

0 starsUnfortunately, our stay at the Forsthaus in Merzalben was a total disappointment. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a full ashtray - not a nice first impression. The courtyard looks like a garbage dump. The accommodation was dirty and in very poor condition. The kitchen was hardly usable: there were only old, dilapidated stoves, hardly any dishes and not even enough spoons for the number of people we had. There was no proper oven or baking tray and the trash cans were already completely overflowing when we arrived. Kitchen towels? None! This “kitchen” really couldn’t be called that. The bedrooms were very sparsely furnished, with uncomfortable mattresses and stained fitted sheets. You couldn't feel comfortable here. The sanitation facilities were the height of unhygiene. The ceiling was hung with a cloth that already had mold on it. When I showered, the water ran onto a carpet, which became completely soaked - it was absolutely unhygienic. We didn't have high expectations, but what we were offered was simply unacceptable. It's a mystery to me how this property got such good reviews. You shouldn't offer something like that to anyone.

I would have preferred to go straight back.We walked into the room and the first thing we saw was dirt. The beds are full of hair and stained, the trash cans haven't been emptied and when was the last time they were vacuumed is another question.I didn't even dare to go into the downstairs bathroom with shower after I saw the toilet upstairs. The toilet is full of hair, the toilet brush is full of shit and the drain is already completely green. The coffee machine in the hallway is also not recommended. Some of the cups that were there were also full of mold.I absolutely cannot recommend the Forsthaus and found the stay simply unpleasant.

Recommended for one night as a stopover or a group. Contrary to fears, WiFi and TV reception were great. There was a coffee machine, hot water, tea and jam (no breakfast) right outside the rooms. In the basement there was a functional kitchen with seating and a spacious sauna plus two showers and two sinks.Allergy sufferers should ask for an allergy-friendly pillow and blanket.

All in all, we are very satisfied with our spontaneous trip to the Palatinate. The old forester's house is lovingly furnished and the rooms are really spacious. And the host family is accommodating, friendly and helpful. That was extraordinary. It was clear to us that there was "only" one shared toilet or bathroom and that's completely fine. The sauna cellar is great and the small dining room with a kitchenette is also nice. With the old oven, which you have to heat with wood like before, it's a really nice atmosphere. If you want to cook for yourself on site, you should probably bring your own kitchen knife and a large pan. That definitely helps. :-)

The Palatinate Forest Trail stage hike becomes a wellness holiday. Definitely the best accommodation when hiking in the Palatinate Forest. Definitely recommended, even for a stay for a few days.Heidrun Hausch, hiking leader - DAV Karlsruhe section

We followed the good reviews from Google and Booking, unfortunately I cannot share the outstanding reviews. When you arrive at Hausa, the first thing you enter is the unkempt courtyard. This area urgently needs to be cleaned up. Inviting is different.Typical old building style in the entrance area, the rooms are very noisy, but the facilities are sufficient. Attention allergy sufferers: pillows and blankets made of downUnfortunately, I have to rate the bathroom as the worst, both the toilet upstairs, which is not separated for men and women, but also the shower area in the basement really leaves something to be desired. The ceiling in the basement is stretched with cloths, which have mold stains everywhere. The floor in the bathroom is made of wooden tiles, which cannot really be cleaned and are quite unhygienic. Cobwebs and dirt everywhere, the shower head needs to be cleaned. Sorry, the idea of a sauna and relaxation area is nice but under the conditions I don't want to use it. It's a shame, the house had potential
