Despite that it was actually close, we were able to get something to drink. While we sat on the terrace enjoying our drink, the landlady invited some walkers onto the terrace to take a rest, since it was very warm today.

I saw the rating PASSABLE on booking and find that very appropriate. Rooms ok, a bit dirty but manageable, heating not working - but hey - you're not here because of the comfort, but because it's the only affordable accommodation apart from the campsite on the castle tour. All in all, you will survive the night, although it can be a bit chilly. It was nice that we were still able to have breakfast even though we overslept. There's no need to sleep here again, but I've seen worse - just PASSABLE. :-|Passable greetings 😗

Unfortunately the hotel is not recommended. The rooms are clean but quite run down. We first had to look for one where the blinds still worked. The breakfast wasn't special either. For the price you can really expect more. The service wasn't particularly good either. Had reserved through Booking. However, there are only two cell phone numbers on the door on site. The only stupid thing is that there is no cell phone network in Schönau. So you drive to the next town, then call and drive back to check in. We left again after one night...
