Simply amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. Everyone speaks English so it’s amazing for international travellers. The restaurant is so cosy and the food is 10/10. The location is so good. We swam in the lake and then warmed up in the amazing sauna in the forest. The rooms are so clean and well designed. I am very happy with my stay❤️

We stayed in a lot of cheap hotels so thought we would treat ourselves to a more expensive hotel. It wasn’t worth it. We got far superior rooms in a £20 a night hotel compared to the small attic room given to us here. …

The Blyb is an exceptional hotel, with a dark history (more to that later).I stayed here with my brothers for three nights. The restaurant is really good. Super tasty local food with great service. The bar is excellent with excellent staff. The barkeepers jokes, mood and skill make it worth coming to Gmund just for the drinks. The breakfast is not your classic boring hotel breakfast but really good bread, super tasty cheeses and sausages and a wide range of interesting and tasty juices (and more). And the barista is radiating so much joy that it’s hard to keep ones morning grumpiness.Overall interior is stylish but not exaggerate. Finally, the service is out of this world. I forgot my AirPods in my room when I left, so I took the train back and called. Veit, the general manager, found the AirPods and met me at the train station so I didn’t have to walk back and forth. Simply excellent! Now to the dark history of the hotel. During the NS regime, Heinrich Himmler acquired the house and made it his residence. One of the other reviewers wrote that it is bad taste to build a hotel in this place. I couldn’t disagree more. Everything about the Blyb is an antitheses to the crimes and dirty values the Nazies held. The Blyb is international, multicultural, liberal, open and happy. I don’t think there could be a better way of reclaiming this place.

My wife, daughter, and I rented a car in Munich after spending time at Oktoberfest and visiting the city. We drove from Munich to Tegernsee/Rottach Egern/Gmund. It's a very easy drive, under an hour and a half. The environment though changes dramatically and you are transported into an alpine wonderland. The Blyb Hotel was the perfect base camp. It's a restored country-estate right across from the lake. The customer service of the staff, Max in particular stands out, was exceptional. Breakfast is absolutely excellent. A selection of locally grown and natural foods, juices, an espresso bar, all served in a really cool setting. The restoration done is top notch and the decor combines a modern feel without losing the character of the original structure. We did not have dinner at the hotel's restaurant but it looked delicious. Instead, we hiked up the mountain, through meadows with cows, and then continued walking into a forest along a well-marked footpath. We emerged in Tegernsee/Rottach Egern and walked down to the Braustuberl Tegernsee for a big beer and the best roast pork loin we've ever had. It was a great way to end a hike! We also walked across to the lake and boarded the Rottach Egern ferry. It's one of several boats that service the various towns situated around the lake. It was glorious to sit on the boat, sipping a drink, looking at the mountains and watching the sailboats glide by. This part of Bavaria is really special. Blyb Hotel provides a restful, comfortable, and upscale setting in one of my favorite parts of Germany. This hotel is quickly becoming a go-to for adventurous jet setters and tourists who enjoy sampling the best that Germany has to offer. Tegernsee is a jewel and the views from the top of the Wallbergbahn are absolutely breathtaking. Our stay at The Blyb and the memories will last a lifetime. But.....we'll be back hopefully very soon! Thank you Max and the entire staff for making us feel so welcome and well taken care of. Vielen Danke!

great location for a house formerly owned by Heinrich Himmler. Will large groups of Nazis visit this Hotel in honor of Heinrich Himmel? Of course they will. This house should have been razed to the ground and the land made into a memorial park. But no, Bavaria prefers a Hotel. Think about why Bavaria prefers that option instead - and whether or not this is really the place to spend your vacation and resources. There are more beautiful places in Austria, just around the corner.Update: Unfortunately my review was temporarily taken dowm after a complaint was filed by the owner. Unfortunately for them my review is valid and falls under freedom of speech and after Googles Team reviewed it, they put it back online. there is a reason these people don’t want you to know about the history of this place. research it well before you decide to stay here!
