We wanted to spend one night on Helgoland in order to avoid the daytime tourist hordes on our walk around the island. Hotel Helgolandia was centrally located and reasonably budget-friendly. …

Difficult to rate since, like all accommodation on Helgoland, it is grossly overpriced. At half the price, it would be OK. They do not even provide a fan on hot days, so the room becomes impossible to spend time in. And as for the breakfast: For example, their idea of coffee is the kind of bug water that comes spluttering out of a large thermos jug when you press the lid, and tastes like it has been there for hours. And the restaurant food, supposedly Thai, is just as bland as German food, but makes a nice change from Brawurst, Schnitzel and Co. Don't spend the night in Helgoland. Go early, walk around the island, take a ferry to Düne, walk around that island, then leave. That is all the time you need there.

What a great little hotel . Bit strange that we had to check in at the travel agents and eat breakfast at another separate cafe but once worked out, it was all very simple and efficient. …

We were here in high season and had a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle. The bathroom and the rooms are very spacious and clean. The balconies also invite you to linger. The breakfast is small but nice. We were pleasantly surprised

Very spacious, beautiful room right under the roof! Everything was very clean, comfortable beds and a nice big bathroom. The small kitchenette was completely sufficient to cater for yourself for two nights. Definitely a recommendation!

We stayed here for 2 nights and were on the 2nd floor. Nice clean room with 2 balconies, large bathroom with nice shower. We thought the toilet was a bit low.Nice beds and certainly a plus for us was the safe, refrigerator and kettle (tea/coffee). It is located above an Asian restaurant, so you can hear and smell that, but we didn't mind. It is centrally located in the center, so no nice view but close to everything. The reception is via another building nearby, so it is well organized. So a very affordable hotel.

The room was clean and had everything to offer. Although the Asian restaurant in the hallway smells extremely like food in the evening, there is no sign of it in the room. It is located right in the city and not far from the Helgoland embassy where the reception is located. There is a discount card to save even more in the shops and 3 free elevator rides to the upper level of the city. The initial minibar was also free.

Hotel rating: Hotel HelgolandiaWe recently spent our stay at Hotel Helgolandia and were given room number eight.Unfortunately, the room allocation was disappointing and questionable. Despite our early booking in January and our age group of 71, we were assigned a room in the attic without a balcony. Younger guests were given rooms on the first or second floor with a balcony, which surprised and disappointed us.The bathroom in our room also had some deficiencies. Only the brackets from a previous shelf remained above the sink, and the mirror was placed so high that even people 5'7" tall could only see the upper half of their face. The mirror was also only the size of a DIN A4 sheet, which made it even more difficult to use.The problems with water pressure were particularly frustrating, especially between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. During this time the water supply had almost come to a standstill and the water flow rate was only 1 l/min. This made showering an extremely tedious affair. When booking, we relied on the room description, which only showed photos of the rooms with balconies. This made us feel deceived when we received a room without a balcony.A bright spot during our stay was the breakfast. It was very tasty and varied, even though it got quite busy at peak time as the hotel also served guests from another hotel. The staff at the “Helgoland Embassy” were extremely friendly and helpful, which made our stay more pleasant despite the deficiencies mentioned.Overall, our stay left a mixed impression. The questionable room allocation, the problems with the water supply and the inadequate bathroom facilities were disappointing. However, the friendliness of the staff and the excellent breakfast were positive aspects that helped to improve our stay somewhat.Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

The hotel is located in the middle of the lowlands, so very central. The rooms and bathroom were very clean! The furnishings were typical of Helgoland... A bit outdated. …
