Hotel Description

Europa-Jugendherberge Saarbrücken is a relaxed hostel located in a serene, wooded area just 2 kilometers from the Saarbrücken train station. The hotel’s prime location offers easy access to key attractions, including the iconic Saarbrücken Castle, which is 3 kilometers away, and the popular Calypso pools and spa, situated 4 kilometers from the property. The area surrounding the hotel features the Saarbrücker Schloss palace and the Saarland Museum, which showcases sculptures and French-German cuisine, making it an excellent base for exploring the local culture and history. The hostel, designed with a casual yet welcoming atmosphere, offers basic dorms and private rooms equipped with bed linens and en suite bathrooms. Some rooms feature bunk beds, and while air-conditioning is available in select rooms, others remain fan-cooled for a more natural experience. The hotel offers complimentary amenities such as parking and breakfast, ensuring guests have everything they need to start their day. Guests can enjoy a relaxed dining experience at the on-site bistro or unwind in the café, which also has a bar for drinks. For families and children, the hostel provides a playful environment with a dedicated children's playroom, as well as BBQ facilities perfect for a laid-back outdoor gathering. The property’s tranquil surroundings make it a great destination for those looking for a peaceful retreat. However, the hotel lacks a fitness center and spa, focusing more on a simple, comfortable stay. Despite this, the combination of modern comforts and nature’s embrace makes it a pleasant option for both short and long stays. The hostel is conveniently located near key transportation options, including Saarbrücken Hbf, just 8 minutes by taxi, making it easy for guests to explore the region further. Public transport options, such as buses and walking routes, are also within close reach. When it comes to local attractions, guests are encouraged to visit the Saarland Museum’s modern gallery, only a 10-minute drive from the hotel, or the Völklingen Ironworks, a UNESCO World Heritage site showcasing the region’s industrial heritage. For a fun family outing, Saarbrücken Zoo, home to 150 species, is just 11 minutes away. For dining, nearby options like Masons Restaurant, Jouliard, and Gasthaus Zahm offer delicious European and French fare, just a short taxi ride away. Whether you're here for a quick stay or a relaxing getaway, Europa-Jugendherberge Saarbrücken is a welcoming choice offering comfort, convenience, and accessibility. We invite you to enjoy the charm of this hidden gem and explore the beautiful surroundings it has to offer.

All in all a basic youth hostel, but we really enjoyed our stay.We booked two rooms, one with mixed kids and adults and one for an elderly couple (my parents). We did not know that the double rooms are loft beds only. After explaining it is hard for them to climb the bed, they happily helped us and changed the room.Nice selection of board games, nice tables to hang and pass the time, good choice of sweets at the entrance.Breakfast is nice, dinner is not as good.Nice playground and park two minutes walk from the hostel, as well as a supermarket.

Nice accommodation for reasonable money. The bunk-beds are small and narrow. Anyone over 1.90 mill have her/his problems. The walls are thin.Meeting rooms are reasonable sized. The food is better the anticipated. The stuff is nice, helpful and prepared.Over all I would recommend for a few days.

I stayed in this hostel for 5 days. I was in Saarbruecken because I attended a summer school there. I didn't book this place by myself,it was a part of stay there,so that organization payed our stay for us. …

I loved this hostel. Although it caters to families and groups of children, it is a great budget option for the solo traveler. …

Clean accommodation for relatively little money (39€ p.p. per night in a single room), friendly staff. Would not book again though and cannot recommend for adults. Room had a bunk bed so small, clearly designed for children and teens. You can barely move within the room. Mattress super thin and soft. Noisy, you can hear the traffic through the windows. Many children as it is mainly for families, so noise was expected. Woke up every morning at 6 due to noise and light as there were no proper curtains on the windows. Breakfast: simple and 100% vegan unfriendly as they serve only animal products - no vegan options except for jam and fruits. Not even plant milk. So bring your own stuff if you're vegan. Sadly no possibility to store food in a fridge so... vegans better book a hotel room ;-) phone signal very very bad, luckily Wi-Fi is free. Bathroom was tiny. In general I think the rooms and the entire building is very ugly, design and interior desperately outdated but that's Jugendherberge in Germany. So if you look for a pretty modern posh atmosphere, book a 4 star hotel ;-)I highly recommend the staff to open windows more often and let fresh air in, as the floors and rooms are a little smelly most of the time...All in all not comfortable stay. Only recommend if you can't afford a hotel room or if you have rather low standards.

The hostel is an old one but the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is good but not many options for vegetarians during lunch or dinner. WiFi is good but only available in common area. The beer at the bar is also cheap and good. Many people gather in common area at night so it becomes a good place to socialize with others.

Low cost and high quality place between university and city center. 20 minutes walk in each direction. Very clean with solid infrastructure. Rooms with bathroom. Breakfast is self service with a very good choice. …

Worth trying. German hospitality for young and old. Avoid some rooms with curtains that don't cut out light. you will end up waking up at 5.30 or 6.am in spring Year. Nice welcome. have been here twice in 3 months. …
