Beautiful piece of history to stay in that is steps from the town square and shops. You are living in history while you are there with 5 star amenities in the newly updated rooms. Family owned and run with exceptional staff. They all seem like family. The restaurant, breakfast and dining are 5 star yet surprisingly affordable. Helpful with any questions or needs. We will always stay here when we return.

Perfect position and easy to get to by car. Parking very handy. Very friendly staff and clean and beautiful rooms. Taking a step back in time! Highly recommend. Would have loved to stay longer. Very good breakfast served with a smile. They all speak perfect English.

We had a recent stay at the Hotel Markusturm that was very pleasant and our only regret was that our stay was only one night! The hotel has a wonderful blend of traditional old-world common spaces and very modern guest rooms. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was good.As for location the hotel is a good balance between being close to the center of town but not right in the middle of the crowds and reasonably close to the wall (parking lot P4 in particular is a close 5 minute walk).

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, and I must say it was an experience to remember—for all the wrong reasons. To start, the lack of air conditioning in the middle of summer made the stay incredibly uncomfortable. I didn’t realize I had booked a sauna instead of a hotel room. It seems the hotel is going for that authentic, old-world charm by forgoing modern conveniences like, you know, cool air.Additionally, I hope you’re ready for some exercise, because there are no elevators. Yes, you read that right. The hotel apparently expects guests to be athletic enough to haul their luggage up the stairs. I was surprised to find that they didn’t offer medals for completing the ascent. Perhaps this crucial detail was buried somewhere on their website, and I missed it. After all, it’s my fault for not reading every single word before booking. To top it all off, the staff’s warmth and hospitality were as chilly as the rooms were hot. I get that efficiency is valued, but a little bit of friendliness wouldn’t hurt. If you enjoy the thrill of sweating in your room and climbing stairs while receiving curt, German-style service, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

Perfectly located and picturesque. Helpful staff greeted us as soon as we pulled up. Easily walkable to everything. Decor around the hotel and in the room was very authentic and tasteful, good juxtaposition between the exposed brickwork and wooden beams with the modern shower in our room. No elevator or A/C (not a big surprise in a building this age), so lugging our over-packed suitcase upstairs on a humid day was a job! A nice fan was provided in the room, which helped. The beds were very firm, which is not our preference. Slight miscommunication during checkout, which was easily remedied with a quick friendly email.

The Romantik hotel had it all - history (as old as the inner wall - 13th century! - since it was originally the tax building for the gate), location, friendly staff, elegant breakfast, quiet and large comfy room. Our stay in this hotel was a high point of our visit to this charming town.

This was our first stop for our week in Germany. The town was really cute and the hotel was very well kept, considering it's age. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was very nice with modern fixtures and aesthetics amongst the feel of a thirteenth century building. I would definitely recommend this establishment, with the only caution being that food options can be scarce depending on the day or time of night.

Beautiful little hotel in the middle of the old town. The service was amazing with a wonderful, kind and friendly staff that cares about their guests and put an honour into providing the best stay possible. We had a two night stay in a family room (very large and ca very much be recommended when traveling with teenagers). Very clean can highly recommend this wonderful hotel. Furthermore it does not make it worse that the white stork has a nest on the roof top on the tower just next to the hotel.
