Centrally located Hotel with clean and spacious rooms.Parking is avalaible next door for 25EUR/day. When parking next to the hotel you must stop briefly in front of the hotel to pick up the parking card from the Front desk. Upon arrival there was no one at the reception and it took 10 minutes to find someone. On the day of our departure we had to return the parking card, because of that we received a traffic fine because the hotel doesn‘t have an area where cars can stop for loading and unloading luggage. This hotel is Perfect If you don’t have a car.

I’ve stayed at Das Carls multiple times and always had a fantastic experience. Located in the heart of Altstadt, it’s perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and exploring Düsseldorf. The service is excellent, with friendly staff who ensure comfort and cleanliness. The rooms are modern, spacious, and quiet. The breakfast is diverse and delicious. Ideal for both families and business travelers, this hotel offers the perfect mix of location, comfort, and hospitality. Highly recommended!

Very basic hotel which would still be ok if it had the basics working. Good location I have to say.Super small rooms. Basic bathroom. Air con is non existing and it is early september and it feels like 40 degrees inside. If you open the window one cannot sleep with the street noise. And they seem to want to give you only the "enough to survive" - I mean one single hand towel, one single bath towel, one pilow....Breakfast is bad - no fruit for example. And not much to choose from. Same as for the rooms... the whole hotel feels like a sauna. As location is good, you have a lot of places around if you want some decent food and a supermarket next to it.This is def not a place you want to stay!! It has the standards of a 2 star B&B from the 80s...

Value for money? I'm not sure about that. If location and breakfast are most important, yes, it is.If your sleep comfort is more important, you'd probably be better off going to a different hotel.**Edit: Their reply to my review says it all: it's not about hospitality, it's rather about proving there's nothing wrong with their hotel.Real hospitality would be: inform your guests properly about the airconditioning and heating system upfront (website and reception) and explain how it works.**Benefits of choosing this hotel:1) Location of hotel is top notch and staff is friendly. The hotel is practically in the city center and within walking distance of many sights and all Christmas markets.2) Parking available in car park next to hotel. Register at the hotel first so you get a parking pass for €25 that allows you to park (otherwise you pay €35).Note that it is a public car park, so if you arrive on a busy day, it is questionable whether there are still parking spaces, especially since you are parking in the city center. Better arrive early or later in the afternoon.3) Lots of power outlets in the hotel room. We had a hotel room 306. A corner room. Spacious enough for 2 people.4) Breakfast is well catered for. Standard and special options, including plant based milk options for in your coffee. Salmon, different cheeses, e.g.,Why you shouldn't choose this hotel:1) The hotel room looks clean, and the bathroom is dated. Looks like the bathroom of a Spanish 3 star hotel in Benidorm in the early 90s, incl mold between a few tiles. Also, you shower in the bathtub.2) Unfortunately, there was no working air conditioning, and there was a fllickering lamp in the bathroom. At night, it got hot in the room, so my daughter and I woke up sweating several times, even in December. The remote control for the aircon was missing, and I could not turn it on manually. Only solution = opening window. The result is a lot of noise from outside, making it difficult to sleep.I went to sleep at 1.30 am and woke up at 3.30 am due to the heat. Then, I stayed awake on and off due to the noise outside.3) I mentioned all of the above at the reception at check-out. Reaction from the receptionist: "sorry, I will pass it on."She further told me that the air conditioning was off in winter. Therefore, the remote control was missing in the room. When I pointed out that this would be a reason for me to not come back to the hotel because I wanted to sleep well. She repeated she was sorry.According to several reviews, this is not an isolated problem. Several guests have complained about it. So be aware of this.I paid €210 for 1 night (incl €25 parking fee).4) The pillows are indeed very soft. Some guests complained about this. So be aware of this.My daughter and I thought they were fine, the mattress was fine too. If it wouldn't have been hot in the room, we would have slept perfectly.5) Only nespresso in hotel room, no water cooker or tea.6) No minibar content. They do have a bottle of cold water (assumably tap water) in the minibar that you can use for free.

This hotel is totally overpriced. Wouldn’t even imagine that hotel for this price in Germany doesn’t have A/C!!! Me and my husband and our daughter all slept in one king bed (it’s because we couldn’t find a room with two queen beds) and it was so hot the first night, we literally slept for 2 hours. The second night we opened up the window, but had to close it shortly after because it was 35 degrees in Fahrenheit outside and the wind was very loud. Breakfast didn’t have as many options, I did enjoy the freshly squeezed orange juice and honeycomb though. Location is great, parking isn’t free. Hotel decor is cute. Hotel rooms, whoever, need to be updated (the walls need to be repainted, for example). The pillows were so flat and flimsy! Had to put sweaters under it to be able to sleep, still woke up with wrinkles and swollen face. Also could hear people talking from nearby rooms. Overall I would not recommend, because after a long day exploring Germany, all you need is a good place to sleep. And we were not able to get that, because it was too hot and no fresh air coming in the room (the could out a fan at least!), so we were super tired on the way home, before our long flight back.

Old fashion retro look rooms, this hotel needs renovation, bathrooms, and toilets have issues.I do challenge the 4 stars for this hotel, not giving importance to basic amenities like toilets and bathrooms for its guests. Our family could not have a shower as toilets water overflow on the bathroom floor. Requested receprion staff 3 times to clean which was not actioned, We had no choice but to check out early as no alternate room offered. We do not recommend this hotel to our friends.

Beautiful hotel with all the luxuries you could hope for. The most wonderful staff, especially Jesus, who looked after us so well. We are hoping to return one day soon. It is one of the most lovely, welcoming hotels we have ever had the pleasure of staying at and all made more special by Jesus and his knowledge of the City and his kind, caring manner. Thank you Jesus!
