Decent location, but otherwise the quality does not match the price. Shabby room, the wardrobe door was broken, no air conditioning and other ventilation with an open window and the air didn't change even then. The open window, on the other hand, caused noise nuisance. You can fill your stomach at breakfast, but the selection is weak, especially with regard to everything fresh. In addition, the morning room only opened a quarter of an hour later than announced. The position of the make-up mirror was sized according to a 190-200 cm man, so it was completely useless for a medium-sized woman. Bathroom equipment I require my own shampoos and creams. The adjacent parking cave is sized only for the smallest cars, style Opel Corsa or similar. No wonder the hotel next door was full and there were only a couple of other customers here besides us.

Unfortunately, the old town hotel has clearly seen its best times behind it. The word “Alt” in the name refers rather casually to the district. The staff was friendly and tried hard. My room was completely dirty and even after asking for cleaning at reception it didn't get any better. Instead, in the evening I was greeted by new hair that wasn't my own. The elevator should really only be used if you sleep on an upper floor, because you really don't want to get stuck in a phone booth lined with musty carpet. The rooms are overall modestly furnished and you can't really do more than sleep in them. However, you should bring earplugs. The door closers are set so strongly that the room doors slam shut with the force of a baseball bat, at all times of the day, of course. A showering neighbor can also wake you up very quickly, because the head of the bed is wall to wall with the neighbor's drains. It is also advisable not to be too sensitive when it comes to security. The entrance door is opened and closed by guests in the evening. If someone forgets, then it's just an open question. There are no staff or cameras on site in the evening to keep an eye on the entrance. To access the Internet, it is better to use your own data volume or (if the WiFi works at all) a laptop with an encrypted VPN connection. All of the guests’ other devices are also visible on the internet. Conclusion: I will definitely not be coming back!

Just say catastrophe, never again, I imagine something different when it comes to cleanliness, the ladies at breakfast were very nice, that's the only positive thing. The highlight was checking out by 11 a.m., unfortunately I was probably the only guest forgotten, no staff present, the main entrance was locked, no one could be reached by phone, it was a good thing that my room key matched the main entrance, so I could at least leave the hotel. A friend finally handed over the key on my behalf at 4 p.m. I expected at least an apology.

About 10 minutes walk from the train station.Rooms are sufficiently large.Good breakfast and very friendly service.Requests were addressed immediately.We'd love to come back

My room was very loud, it was above the kitchen. Even with the window closed, there were kitchen smells in the room the whole time. It was even worse with the window open.

Great hotel near the old town and the Hypothallamus. The rooms are a bit old, but the friendly operator informed us that all rooms are gradually being renovated. The first seven rooms will soon be ready! We really liked it as it was. The breakfast was cheap for just under €13 and very good. We'd love to come back!

The rooms are very simple and in need of renovation. Service ranges from friendly to rude. The cleaning could also be significantly better. And saving energy is ok. It can still be bright.

A nice example of "everything is getting more expensive without getting better".The old town hotel is centrally located in the city center on the Thie, the Falkenhof is right next to it, the pedestrian zone is 200m away and the (narrow) underground car park is directly opposite. The room had a balcony, about 0.3 square meters.The description and photos on the homepage are shockingly accurate.The highlight was the friendly lady who was there in the morning (daughter of the host couple from the restaurant??)The hotel saw its best days many, many years ago. Everything works, but the style is only familiar from 80s films. The fact that the guest is initially ignored upon arrival is probably the legendary "Westphalian charm". A few years ago, a double room in a 4-star hotel would have been available for the price of the room. The Altstadthotel does not have a star rating.The WiFi is a disaster, the connection keeps dropping out and when you turn on roaming, all the background traffic goes to the roaming volume. I had the best reception in the bathroom.The breakfast corresponds to the overall concept. The table is set for one person and the coffee is in a thermos flask. There are rolls, cold cuts and cheese as well as jam, but everything is either straight from the packaging or still packaged. You can tell in every detail that maximum savings are being made here. Except for the price charged for breakfast.The room has no air conditioning and since the window faces directly onto the street with the local bars, it is a bit difficult to ventilate at night.There was probably once a bathtub in the bathroom, which was then omitted for cost reasons. So the bathroom is huge now, but doesn't do anything with the space. There is no (in words "no") shower gel in the shower. So be sure to bring your own or buy it locally (I did). There is also no hanger for the towel next to the sink. The fact that the shower door no longer closes properly is almost a detail.I can understand that everything is currently becoming more expensive and you have to look at the costs. But you can also overdo it. I'll be back in Rheine in 5 years, let's see what happens by then.
