Unfortunately, the operator does not respond to inquiries in a timely manner (24 hours), which is a shame.

We have been visiting the campsite for a week of summer for years. The place is wonderfully located directly on the river Rur flowing past in the tranquil village of Abenden and is run by one of the sons of the late operator. When planning a possible overnight stay, you should not assume a modern campsite. There is neither a market/kiosk nor a sandwich service or equipment (paper, soap) in the sanitary facilities. You should plan to bring everything you need yourself or buy it in nearby Nideggen. Here you get a beautiful space, a power connection and older sanitary facilities (sometimes cleaner, sometimes less so, depending on how busy the space is), as well as an old dishwashing house (here too, only sinks, bring everything with you). But since the place is in a perfect location and the surrounding area is great to explore on foot or by bike/car, it's enough for us to give it 4 stars.

Spontaneously stayed there for one night without any expectations, it was great, right on the river for refreshment, a good restaurant opposite and also a nice new sanitary building

Beautiful campsite right on the banks of the Rur. Newer, clean sanitary building, showers free of charge, but no toilet paper available, very friendly operator, good value for money, good Wi-Fi but you have to pay. Family atmosphere, gladly again. Very good restaurant “Haus Mühlbach” nearby. Shops a few kilometers away.

This campsite has everything I needed. We were allowed to stand right on the river where we had a beautiful view. The owner is really very friendly. The toilet block is really clean and tidy all day long.

Of course there are options for washing and rinsing. There is an extra sanitary house in the middle of the square, which is in good and clean condition. Next to it there is a separate building just for washing up.There is a restaurant next to the square and the nearest shop is one town away (Aldi, Lidl, Rewe, Action, bakery, Tierbedart all in one place).Otherwise, it is a tranquil spot right on the river and not an all-in entertainment party campsite.Perfect for nature lovers, hikers, bikers etc. It's always a question of the demands you make.

Pretty run-down campsite. The sanitary facilities are old and not clean. No possibility to rinse or wash. No possibility to buy anything. No catering on site. The price is far too high for that
