Very friendly service who took great care of our children. The food was extremely tasty. We had the prawns, the plescavica, the Bergisch schnitzel and the kids menu with chicken nuggets and fries.All in all, a very cozy evening and the kids felt comfortable too. Gladly again soon.

The food was good, I had schnitzel with fried potatoes. The service was friendly.However, the atmosphere is very old-fashioned. Of course, that's not far-fetched given the old building in which the restaurant is located, but the furnishings were still rather poor. I probably won't go there anymore.

I really can't agree with the good reviews. I think the quality of the food is rather poor. The menu is full of additives, which shows which products come directly from wholesalers and are not produced in-house. The Tsatziki is currently a complete disaster. And that despite the fact that the innkeeper previously served a very good tzatziki at the Landhaus Kovelenberg. Now it's obviously coming out of the can. This also applies to almost all starters and obviously also to the Djuvec.The "fried onions" were mushy onion rings without any roasting. The salad came with a sweet sauce (obviously ready-made sauce) without being asked. The number of peppercorns in the pepper sauce could be counted on one hand.There wasn't much to be seen of the promised "Mediterranean cuisine" apart from the usual grilled plates.After all, the schnitzel was nice and crispy, the fries were crispy, and the service was very friendly.There is still a lot of room for improvement here, at least the inferior industrial goods should disappear from the menu. That would be a start. Chefs should probably be able to cook, that's the only reason you go to a restaurant. Canteen level is really not appropriate here.

Yesterday we ate here for the first time since it reopened. The Schmalzgrube, as we have known it from the previous owner for many years, has never disappointed our family in all areas such as the quality of the dishes or the atmosphere. We are extremely happy that the new tenants are from the former Landhaus Kovelenberg, where we also enjoyed being, and who are continuing this high standard. The selection of dishes has some parallels to before, but is also very appealing in a different way, so that everyone can choose something tasty. Overall, for everyone who knows it from before, the current Schmalzgrube is a wonderful fusion of the old Schmalzgrube and the Kovelenberg country house, which we really missed. The service staff is friendly and accommodating. The food leaves nothing to be desired. We are a large group and everyone's meat was cooked exactly as requested, very tender and aromatic. The portions are generous in keeping with the quality and the side dishes are perfectly balanced - there are also the many "little" things that were simply great, the delicious dressing of the fresh side salads, the slightly crispy and perfectly seasoned mushrooms, the drinks and much more. We will definitely recommend you and look forward to visiting you many more times in the future.

Last Saturday we had dinner at Landhaus Schmalzgrube. Curious about the new location that the former tenant of Haus Kovelenberg and the Zunftstuben has opened. As in the other restaurants run by Pero Kitin, we were warmly welcomed, followed by a short small talk and then Pero showed us the reserved table. On the way to the table we looked around the restaurant and found a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. A short time later another familiar face appeared, the waiter. He was also very friendly and was happy to welcome us to the new location. We ordered drinks and food. Despite the full house, we received our drinks and food with reasonable waiting times. We felt very comfortable in the cozy atmosphere. Our dishes were presented very attractively and you could taste the fresh ingredients. Both the boss and the waitresses asked several times whether everything was OK. What we could only confirm.It was a lovely evening for us and there will definitely be more to come. We would like to thank Pero Kitin and his team for the very attentive hospitality.
