Well located hotel at an acceptable price. The staff was very friendly and had a smile on their faces.The breakfast is ok, but not more than standard.Payment by credit card is possible. There is no elevator here.The WiFi is good.A limited number of free parking spaces are available. Parking is also free on the street. However, due to the proximity to the stadium, it can be very tight during big games.

Normally I find reviews easy, but things are different with the Excelsior.> We felt extremely comfortable.> It was a perfect fit for us.> If we go to Bochum again, we will definitely book here again.The description is difficult because the Excelsior simply doesn't correspond to any clichés at all. It doesn't belong to any chain. The staff (especially in the breakfast room) are not trained to smile stupidly, but rather meet the guests humanely and at eye level. The rooms are half apartments. There is its own anteroom and the bathroom/toilet is also its own room. The furnishings are in the style of the last millennium, but are as neat as if they had just been delivered. It was designed with “living in it” in mind, not “fancy”. Our rooms were in the basement (that was a bit unusual), but someone took that into account and installed windows that cannot be broken even when tilted.I think the best way to describe the Excelsior is: "This is where people live, not stay."Finally, I would like to address the management directly:I think it's great that you give people with disabilities a chance in your company! This is not a given and it will make you stand out from the crowd. -BRAVO!

Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Furniture in the rooms is outdated. Breakfast for 140 euros for a double room, rather economical.Location to the Starlight Express and the pedestrian zone is great

It takes about 10 minutes from the hotel to the Starlight Express.That was already great.The room was large and clean.Breakfast was very good.The ladies in the breakfast room were very attentive.I can recommend it.

A mediocre hotel not worth the money. The breakfast is bad. The service is very bad. It's like a military camp. It is forbidden to enter the breakfast room without permission.

I booked the hotel for an overnight stay after seeing the musical "Starlight Express", as many people do, because the location is really ideal. From the hotel you can easily reach the musical theater on foot in 8-10 minutes. The room was very spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable. In the evening you can have a good meal in the attached Italian restaurant. I had a stone oven pizza that I really enjoyed. The breakfast offered by the hotel was also rich and very good. There is a star deduction because the rooms unfortunately do not have air conditioning. Given the mid-summer temperatures that prevailed during my stay last week, it was really uncomfortably warm in the room. Apart from that, the hotel can be recommended. The staff was also very nice.

Good quiet location, quick connection to the motorway. Near Starlight, stadium, subway not far away about 15 minutes on foot, parking in the yard or on the street, very nice reception, room large, clean and functionally furnished, large bathroom, breakfast was OK, lots of sausages and cheeses, scrambled eggs with bacon, pizzeria in the house.

Super close to the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, easy to reach the city center by public transport, and the city center is easily accessible even on foot. Room is clean, tidy and quiet.The breakfast buffet was small but nice, there was everything you needed. I would go there again at any time just because of the boiled eggs for breakfast, they were simply excellent. I also found it very nice that the staff were over 50 and not just young people, like in other hotels.

Good hotel. Bright and clean rooms. Facilities are no longer quite as modern. Service staff is unfortunately understaffed and there is no alternative to coffee at breakfast, such as cappuccino or latte macchiiato.

A very good 3 star hotel but not for the accessibility impaired.The Excelsior does not look that great from outside and it is not handicapped friendly with all the stairs up and down everywhere, it would not be built like this today. Also, reception is closed by 11pm if not earlier and there is not access to the building unless you have a key - an old-fashioned key and not a card.I was surprised by the room; it was large and very comfortable. It also had some great amenities, there is a room safe which many German hotels don't have, a nice wardrobe with hairdryer, a suit hanger, a desk / tv stand, refrigerator, a table with a pair of chairs and plenty of space everywhere. It could do with better curtains as theirs are very thin.The hotel has been maintained very well. Parking could be larger, I ended up parking around the corner one night as there was no place else at the hotel or on the street. Bring a torch if entering outside open hours as the corridors are dark.Breakfast is good, some hot food - scrambled eggs, Nuremburg sausages bacon at times and a meatball / frickadellan as well as the usual cold foods.

If you want to go to the stadium or the Starlight Express, you can walk there in just a few minutes. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. (13)The TV could be a little bigger. Breakfast was sufficient and the service was very friendly.Anyone who has problems climbing stairs should book another hotel room as there is no elevator.

Clean, comfortable bed and modern. Were only in transit for 1 night. Please note that only card payments are accepted. Close to the Starlight Express Theater, 10 minutes on foot. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Gladly again.
