Reception was not manned upon arrival due to a break. The medium-friendly lady was on the phone in front of the house. Took us but she didn't care. I had never experienced anything like that before.

It's nice but the mattresses are so uncomfortable

Stayed here when concert was on at stadium, took ages to check in. Rooms super basic as expected for hostel. Price was crazy high for what you get.

Great youth hostel, with super friendly staff. I can only recommend! The location is the icing on the cake ☺️👏🏼

We stayed there as a family with 2 children for one night. The very simple room was unfortunately really dusty and the walls were very stained in places. Luckily the bathroom was cleaner. We had significantly better rooms in other youth hostels. Especially since it was really expensive for just one night including breakfast.The staff was friendly and the breakfast was also ok.It smelled quite a bit in the entrance area and in our hallway, which was really unpleasant.

Only three sockets in the room, not even eating in bed was bad flying in the scrambled eggs and it wasn't cleaned properly. Location was too far away from the city.

There is one star for the friendly and helpful staff, who have to work in an absolute infrastructure disaster.Booked a single room with breakfast (for €65!) because there was a Zoom application interview the next morning at 8:30 a.m. in order to be undisturbed. Guess what? NO WiFi in the room, only very poor WiFi in the constantly noisy reception hall. After a lot of begging, we got one of the many constantly empty conference rooms, played the IT specialist there for two hours, 8-10 p.m., to set up a reasonably stable VPN for tomorrow so that it could work despite the very poor and shaky DJH WiFi. Everything tested again - tip top.The majority of the €65 single room night was spent sleeplessly on a rock-hard mattress, with a creaking bed frame, only with thin curtains without the possibility of darkening properly, so that the sun wakes you up again at 4:30 a.m. At night the shower spontaneously started dripping every second, and the cold water tap in the sink can no longer do much more than just drip in terms of pressure. In the morning it stinks from the drains.Well, there’s my job interview, so stay positive. Had breakfast, then went down to the reserved conference room with a previously set up PC and smartphone. With the key provided, the room is locked from the inside so that it is undisturbed. The acoustic connection during the interview was poor despite the VPN, so I asked the receptionist whether a headset was available. Employee says no, but offers me his private one (thank you very much!).Meanwhile, the super-expensive modern door to the conference room with the key inside falls into the lock and can no longer be opened! While the potential employers wait and wonder, they also try to reach me by phone - my cell phone and laptop are locked away, out of reach! - first the house service and then an external locksmith are called in to drill out the lock of this super expensive modern door to the super expensive modern conference room from the outside - with the KEY INSIDE!Meanwhile, I try to reach my potential employers from reception. First google the number and then call from the landline phone. Think! The landline phone says “number invalid” despite multiple attempts according to the dual control principle; apparently it doesn’t like calls to Switzerland. What's going on with a DJH's landline phone that blocks calls abroad?Again the receptionist had to offer me his private cell phone, with which the connection worked flawlessly straight away. I sincerely apologize to the potential employer and another virtual appointment will be arranged for 4 p.m.At 10 a.m., 90 minutes after the interview began and 75 minutes after the door closed, the super-expensive, modern door was finally drilled open. Applause applause!The second night is immediately canceled and the DJHs as a whole are turned their backs forever. I'll never have to put myself through this kind of monkey business again on my vacation for €65 per night!I warmly recommend that the DJH Hannover and all DJHs get an IT specialist AND a plumber FROM THIS MILLENNIUM to bring the “invisible” infrastructure (telephone, internet, WiFi, locking systems, water supply, etc.) up to speed to be updated in 2024.I would be so ashamed to work in a company like that... wow on the outside, yuck on the inside!

Recently I had the dubious pleasure of staying in this hostel. Here are the “highlights” of my stay:**1. Fragrant quarters and sanitary facilities:**As soon as I entered the room, I was greeted by an olfactory composition that was somewhere between “damp basement” and “mold paradise”. The showers offered a special kind of sensory experience. Who needs aromatherapy?**2. Charming service staff:**The staff was remarkably unfriendly. Inquiries were met with apathetic groans and professional eye rolls. Service orientation? None.**3. Culinary disasters:**The culinary offerings were more reminiscent of a chemistry laboratory than a kitchen. The meals were a real assault on the palate - inedible and disgusting.**4. Price-performance catastrophe:**The prices were outrageously high. You wonder if you accidentally booked a five-star resort, but the “user experience” was a disaster.**5. Do-it-yourself philosophy:**The principle of self-organization applies in this hostel. Garbage disposal and bed making? Everything on your own. Here you pay exorbitant prices for the privilege of doing everything yourself.**6. Adventure “Locked Out”:**One evening we were locked out. In the desperate search for a way out, my pants tore. The door mechanisms are so outdated that it felt like you were in a horror movie.**7. Security defects par excellence:**Last but not least, there were no smoke detectors in the rooms. A small detail that shows how little they care about the safety of the guests here.**Conclusion:**This youth hostel is a masterpiece of deficit management. Smelly quarters, unfriendly staff, disgusting food, inflated prices and the do-it-yourself philosophy are just the tip of the iceberg. The lack of fire protection infrastructure and the involuntary adventure of being locked out top it all off. Hands off!

Here you are charmingly ignored or fobbed off with a smile that lacks any warmth.**3. Culinary Adventures:**The food at this hostel is a real adventure for the taste buds. It seemed as if the chef had managed to turn all the laws of culinary art on their head. Flavor explosions in the negative sense are guaranteed here. If you thought frozen food was the worst, you should dine here.**4. Premium prices for premium suffering:**For this “luxury” the youth hostel charges prices that will make you dizzy. Value for money? You can only laugh about it here. You pay for the privilege of experiencing this particular form of unpleasantness.**5. DIY garbage disposal and self-organization:**In a world where service is very important, this hostel believes in the motto “You are the guest”. Dispose of your garbage yourself and organize everything else yourself? No problem, after all, you have enough time and leisure for it on vacation.Conclusion: This youth hostel offers an experience that you won't quickly forget - and unfortunately in a negative sense. If you are looking for accommodation with charm, comfort and good service, you should give this place a wide berth. Laughing and crying at the same time, I advise you to stay away from this special kind of adventure!

The employees are relatively friendly.The rooms had sinks. The wallpaper was very dirty, was peeling off in some places and the rooms were relatively dusty.The location is nice as the Maschsee is within walking distance.The breakfast was good.
