At the beginning of October 2024, the two of us stayed in this wonderful, colorful, newly renovated youth hostel.The reception was very friendly despite another very large group arrival.The room and bathroom were surprisingly good and, above all, colorfully furnished, everything was very clean. The beds were made upon arrival and there was a towel ready for everyone.The food in the modern dining room was very fine, for dinner there was soup, main course, lots of salads and dessert. Since the coffee machine unfortunately went on strike in the morning, coffee pots were provided.The bistro served drinks and snacks at fair prices.Conclusion: We really liked the unbeatable location directly on the Rhine and the colorful ambience.

This was our second time in the youth hostel in Mainz. Both times we felt very comfortable, the youth hostel is modern and clean. Our daughter (2 years old) really liked the indoor play area and the outdoor playgrounds. The family rooms are sufficiently large and the bathroom is also sufficient. Breakfast and dinner were good. There are high chairs for the little ones and the staff there are all very friendly, including towards children.We can highly recommend the youth hostel, especially the location right next to the Volkspark is nice.

I took my daughter here for a seminar that she had to attend. It was in a very nice and quiet area with a park right next to it and right by the river as well. The staff was very friendly and the entire building looked very nice and clean. This looks like a great place for the youths to stay and learn also. Seems like a very family friendly area as well as for pets to run around.

Normal youth hostel. Clean and food is okay. Location right next to the park is good, a Rewe is within walking distance. There was a strange smell in the bathroom, probably due to the ventilation, it should be cleaned again.

We, 2 families with children and grandchildren, around 24 people, are meeting for a long weekend for the 5th year in a row. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of opportunity for the children to play...you can bring your own play equipment (inflatable paddling pool)...There is space around the house with a chair and table...and a parasol.....Rooms are newly furnished for children.The kitchen is run with heart, there is always plenty of good food. You can always catch up. Drinks are also plentiful. Even if you have special requests, you try to fulfill them.Conclusion: We have already booked for 2025!

Beautiful, family-friendly and barrier-free youth hostel with a common room with a television and several playgrounds for children. The breakfast is delicious, everything is clean and always a pleasant atmosphere.Parking spaces (also for electric cars) are available, but in short supply.There is a large park next door where you can also grill.The city center is approx. 2 km away.However, the building is close to an approach path to Frankfurt Airport, which can cause disturbance during the day. But at night the flight ban takes effect and you can sleep peacefully.Overall, we had a very nice, relatively affordable vacation here.

The youth hostel offers friendly staff and clean rooms. Good, varied and sufficient food (morning and evening) is provided every day. The Wi-Fi facilities are poor - this is only available in the entrance area. Mobile indoor supply is usually good for this. There are around 12 parking spaces available in front of the door. The youth hostel is located very close to the center with a large park (including a playground) adjacent. All in all, recommended for a visit to the city of Mainz.

A lot of things are VERY positive, but also ONE big minus point!First of all, the good! The hostel has definitely lost its old-fashioned image. It is stylish and high quality and of course in a great city with many excursion destinations. The directly adjacent Volkspark also offers lots of great opportunities to pass the time (e.g. water playground, train rides, large playground with lots of climbing opportunities, cable car, large slides etc., mini golf, restaurants and much more). Children (even small ones) are very welcome in the hostel welcome. There are 2 very nice playgrounds that belong directly to the hostel. There is also an outdoor fitness area with instructions. There are also some play options for the kids inside. The rooms are super clean, a towel is included for everyone (every additional 50 cents) and bed linen is also included. The price-performance ratio for the buffet is excellent. The breakfast is plentiful and varied. It is always replenished and refilled quickly. Vegan and gluten-free alternatives are also offered. The service is largely very nice and helpful.Now to the unfortunately very negative point. It was almost impossible to calm down. There is a lot of advertising for families and family vacations, including all sorts of additional options for babies and toddlers. Unfortunately we were now in a hallway with a school class. It was incredibly loud. There was screaming, stomping, banging on doors, and doors being thrown. I politely asked several times for some rest because neither my baby nor my toddler could get any sleep. After several attempts to resolve the situation myself, I asked reception for help. I was then given the teachers’ room number. I would have liked the hostel staff to solve the situation now and take over from there. Well. I then found the teachers myself and informed them. After that it became a little quieter. But occasionally still very loud until 11 p.m. Anyone who has small children knows what a challenge it is when they and you don't sleep. Especially since the night is still over between 5-6. I would definitely wish it were different and unfortunately it leaves me a little hesitant about new bookings.

Super beautifully renovated house. Perfect location for a short vacation with a small child. The youth hostel is spacious. With two beautiful playgrounds outside and a children's corner in the house. Outside seating options. Right next to it is the Volkspark with another huge playground. And the highlight for our little one was the water playground.The food was very, very good. All meals buffet style.The staff was very accommodating.We felt very comfortable.
