Booked a room through booking. we were supposed to check in, but on the way our car broke down. The entire amount has been paid and according to the terms of the booking, a refund is not possible. But I called and explained the situation and got a full refund. It was very humane, great gratitude. I haven't been there, but I can recommend their attitude to customers!

I sleep soundly and yet the incredibly noisy stairwell drives me crazy. With the corresponding number of apartments, there is of course always someone in the house and the associated constant banging of all the doors and especially the front door + rumbling in the stairwell is an imposition. You can also leave the apartment door open. It doesn't make any difference, you can still see just as much when it's closed.And when peace finally returns during the day, the cleaner is finally on the move in the house... Great. Thank you for the relaxation.If you like to sleep in peace, don't choose this accommodation.Apart from that, the accommodation itself is very nice.

I booked the small apartment under the roof for 2 nights. The small apartment with kitchenette and bathroom far exceeded my expectations!It is even more beautiful than described on the website and it has been furnished with great attention to detail. Everything you need as a self-caterer is also available. The contact was friendly at all times and traveling with a dog was no problem, which is something I personally like was very important.The view of the lake is of course great and the location at the castle is very nice.I also found the parking spaces nearby very practical.My dog and I felt very comfortable and will be happy to come back.I can recommend this guesthouse at any time!

A super beautiful café furnished with attention to detail. Very clean including the toilets.Service was very friendly, quick. The cheesecake is a dream including cappuccino and beer of the month.It was also a visit to a café where you could enjoy great music at the same time.We will definitely come back.

A beautiful, lovingly renovated half-timbered house. We stayed there overnight and used Thurnau as a starting point for our activities in Franconia. Check in and check out went without any problems.

We sat outside the small coffee shop on Sunday and there wasn't much going on, although every table was occupied but with just under 10 people waiting 20 minutes for a coffee was a bit long. As nice as it is before coffee with the lake etc... But almost everyone went in or had to call the waitress. Something needs to be improved here. It has also been written in previous reviews that it simply takes too long. If that still works, everything is ok. Then we paid 15 euros for 2 coffees and 2 small chocolate things. Unfortunately it's not that exclusive after all. Sorry, I'm not one to get upset about something because I work in sales myself... That's why you should also address what doesn't fit so that you can do it better. Because if no one says anything, everyone thinks it's okay and then you're surprised when no one comes anymore or or or...

I love staying here, it’s feels like back to my village hometown. People here are more friendly and less judgemental as in Kulmbach and Frankfurt. Also, this apartment located very near to beautiful scenery next to castle and lake. You can eat your dinner/ ice-cream (during hot summer) next to the lake. Only weekend will packed with tourists. It’s time for me to hangout at other cities.Staying here for 2 weeks, for sure will make me missed this place in future. The owner responded very fast and so kind letting me to check in earlier after my official conference finished at noon in Kulmbach. It’s was very helpful because we are super exhausted at that time. Also, fast responding to my request. I feel just like at home staying at this apartment with excellent heater. All provided is sufficient.I love Thurnau. Thank you for the hospitality - Robert and family.

Very cozy and nicely furnished apartment! The location in town is central and yet quiet - apart from the calming sound of the nearby Mühlbach - the view of the Scjhlossweiher is magical. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back!

Accommodation equipped with old mattresses and old furniture, some of which are dusty, kitchen has a disgusting smell, I could hardly sleep because you could hear the creaking of the wooden floors the whole time, children were screaming around in the early hours, there was mold in the shower, Toilet glasses also wobbled, dirty curtains and windows. Generally no service available. As a guest you are treated very unfriendly.Once and never again...

Beautiful location by the lake with rustic furnishings. Delicious beer, there is always a beer of the month and for us it was Huppendorfer😋. Small snacks, coffee specialties and cakes and cocktails. Unfortunately, points are deducted for the long time we had to wait for our food and then for the bill. Chaos in the kitchen and at the counter is inevitable when everyone does everything. Better: one does the counter, one does the kitchen and one serves and collects. Also: always run with a full tray, either with full or empty glasses.Another point deduction: no more bread or cake at 3:30 p.m.? The excuse: "The Schlossbräu opposite is on holiday!" You know that beforehand and on the original report. A nogo on a day that is over 20 degrees.There is still room for improvement

We enjoyed going there at first, but unfortunately the service doesn't care about the outside guests, even when there's little going on. Prefers to stand inside and chat or be on his cell phone. That can happen at any time, but it has happened to us three times now, so we don't go there anymore. It's a shame about the actually beautiful location.

Unfortunately, the cake wasn't homemade, the strawberries were no longer fresh and overall not appetizing. Unfortunately, the glass straw for the iced coffee was not cleaned hygienically at all. Still a pleasant atmosphere.Overall not recommended.

Everything was great! Great value for money, cozy atmosphere and super friendly and funny staff. We receive a very warm welcome, delicious food and the location speaks for itself. Always my pleasure :)
