Names don't always say everything about the history of a place. An attentive visitor will only be surprised at the out-of-place sculptures he finds here. The eventful history of the Wuhlheide is often reported publicly. People's Park, Russian barracks, children's paradise, event location and football stadium. The camps that stood here during the Nazi era and were used as accommodation for foreign workers, as it was called then and are now called forced laborers, are only sometimes mentioned in documentation. But this is the only way to explain the sculptures that you find here, which look like foreign bodies. Based on his memorials in the Buchenwald concentration camp, these works were installed here by Fritz Cremer during GDR times. Anyone who had art lessons in the GDR will recognize the "composition" and the boy standing apart with the food bowl from the memorial in Buchenwald. No sign or explanatory board indicates the history of the site and the significance of these sculptures. The new time and nature gradually obscure everything.

A prison stay would be more pleasant!Absolutely outdated facility with outdated manners in the GDR style of the staff towards their guests. The employees, an older, long-haired lady and a slim older gentleman, presumably kitchen staff and caretaker, repeatedly stand out for their disproportionate prohibitions. They seem to be resting on the fact that they will get their salary from the Senate anyway. In particular, disrespect towards children is incomprehensible when you work in an institution for children.

It was my first time at the Burrow with children. The building is old, but definitely suitable for a group trip. We had large, clean rooms for 13 children each. There were communal showers and toilet rooms. We were greeted very friendly and our well-being was always taken care of. Coffee was always made for the teachers and tea or water was always available for the children. We really enjoyed our days there. Thank you.
