We had a lovely time staying at Hotel 717 for 4 nights. The staff, especially Victor and Camilla, took excellent care of us and made our trip feel special. As to be expected for a historic canal house, the rooms do run small and you must be comfortable using the stairs as there is no elevator. The location is fantastic with short walks to many neighborhoods, museums, and a metro stop on the block. It was a great launch pad for our exploration of Amsterdam. If you are looking for a more intimate, boutique experience, this is a great option. If you are looking for a larger scale hotel with more comprehensive amenities or have concerns about mobility/accessibility, this may not be the place for you.

The hotel itself is very quaint and nice size rooms and maintains the historical feel and theme of the city. The best part of the hotel is the staff! The hospitality and service at this hotel is top notch, they are so attentive and nice. Vincent and his staff are amazing we would definitely come stay here again.

Take caution reserving at this hotel. I reserved a room, but later found a better option. I called to cancel, but the hotel says I didn’t. The hotel charged my card USD $3,668.49 although I have never set foot in the hotel. To date the hotel has been uncooperative is resolving this matter.

We paid top price for a room that we thought was 15m2 but was 11.2m2. While fine it was the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in a 5* hotel. The room was right at the top of the building with very steep stairs leading to the top. For sure you need to be reasonably fit to climb the stairs and under 6 feet tall or your head will be hitting the ceiling in the attic rooms. Agree with previous reviewer about the bathroom fittings.Perfectly fine to move about the room if one person remains in the bed to allow the other to move around the room. Underwhelmed to say the least.

While my experience was pleasant overall, it didn’t meet my expectations. The room was disappointing. The bathroom amenities were minimal, with only soap, lotion, two glasses, and bath napkins. Oddly, the glasses were placed on the table without a cap or mat, which felt careless. The bathrobes and towels were okay, but nothing special—just “average plus.” Additionally, the taps in both the shower and sink were designed in sharp squares, which were uncomfortable to use. Worse, the shower taps seemed to be installed incorrectly and often got stuck. Every time I used them, it took a few long seconds to figure out how to get them to work properly—far from convenient. On top of that, the three soap bottles were attached to the wall at an awkwardly high height, making it uncomfortable to reach and use. I had a serious issue when the AC vent cover fell from the ceiling onto the floor. Although staff responded, there was no real apology or any effort to offer something to make up for it. Breakfast was the biggest letdown. For 40 euros, the selection was very limited—some salmon, avocado, a few sausages, cheeses, yogurts, and some pastries. I also ordered scrambled eggs for around 23 euros, which were incredibly small and nothing special. For that price, I expected much more. Though my stay wasn’t bad, it fell short of what I was hoping for, especially given the price. The room, service, and breakfast all left much to be desired. On a positive note, the minibar was well equipped and the location is good.

A gorgeous hotel, our room was beautiful. It’s an old building in Amsterdam so of course the stairs are steep but it just added to the character of the place. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. …
