Hotel Campanile Amsterdam

I've since reached out to the hotel and heard nothing back. This has been 2 months now where this problem hasn't been resolved??DO NOT STAY HERE. SCAMMERS.Me and my friend booked this place for 5 nights last month. It was our first time visiting Amsterdam. There was no AC, the rooms were stuffy and hot and me and my friend both ended up sleeping on the floor in the bathroom to escape the heat and mosquitoes. She slept by the toilet and I slept on the shower floor. I have not had such a bad sleep since I can remember....The next morning we informed the staff member at reception that we couldn't stay another night and would have to cancel our trip. We could tell that the staff member was fed up as it felt like they had had complaints like this before. We didn't even mention that we slept on the bathroom floor, he was quite calm and quick to assure us that if we let booking.com know (the provider we booked with) then they would issue a refund. He told us we would have to pay for the first night but that the remaining 4 nights would be refunded. We then had to pay out of our own pocket for another hotel in Amsterdam for the remaining 4 nights while we waiting to process this refund. It is a month today when we stayed there and we are still waiting for a full refund. Booking.com were waiting for hotel campanile to reply/release the money. Because this was taking so long my friend (the booking was under her name) contacted the hotel herself via phone and email. They BLOCKED her number and her email. They approved a refund for only 2 out of the 4 nights i'm guessing to shut us up which means both of us are nearly £150 out each. I have really struggled this month and did not expect that a relatively decent establishment like this would be pure scammers. The times my friend could get through to them on the phone (before they blocked her number) the staff were rude and dismissive to her. They clearly do not care but we were promised a refund for these 4 days and have been given no reason as to why this has not been possible/something we have had to chase ourselves. I don't think I have ever written a google review before but I am writing this to ensure that this is not avoided. Blocking numbers and emails is a new low. I will be copying and pasting this review again and again and again until they give us the proper refund that we are expecting.

Public transport was good, 6 minutes walk to the metro station

The hotel pleasantly surprised me. The hall is very pleasant, the staff attentive and the rooms comfortable and clean. The location is excellent, with free parking and a metro station just a minute away. Perfect for getting around the city.

Hotel which has an excellent team and which meets expectations...The metro 50m away is really very convenient to get to the centerThe park is also present just behind the hotel...

It was the worst hotel experience we had on our European trip. When we arrived at the hotel as a group, the elevators were not working and we had to carry our luggage up the stairs ourselves. …

We spent 3 nights in the hotel and were very satisfied. On the plus side, free parking, very good breakfast, right next to the metro station, from which max. 30 minutes to get to the center. The only minus is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. But generally ok 😉

We had a room at the back of the "hotel". The room was filled with mosquitoes and the furnishings seemed very shabby. The view was a dirty backyard where open garbage cans and laundry carts were scattered wildly. The rest of the impression wasn't very inviting either. We didn't unpack our suitcases and left the hotel after 30 minutes and looked for a new one. The receptionist was very friendly and offered us other rooms. We refused and got our money back.

The rooms are rather small and not really clean. In ours there was mold above the shower and squashed mosquitoes everywhere. It doesn't disgust me to the point of wanting to change rooms either, but it's not crazy all the same. Front desk service was excellent throughout our stay and the location is top notch. Right next to a large park and 1 minute from a metro station. The last few days our neighbors were talking loudly all night but that's not the hotel's fault.
