The Dörrwalder Mühle is a beautiful location near Großräschen. The tent that stands at the back of the property has a pleasant atmosphere and really looks impressive architecturally. Although it was quite cool outside, you didn't notice it inside because of the good heating. But now to the reason why I can unfortunately only give two stars. We were there on Christmas Day. Despite the high number of visitors, the service was very friendly and regularly asked if everything was OK and the drinks came very quickly. Once the wrong drink was brought, which was immediately remedied after a brief notice. At the beginning there was a greeting from the kitchen for everyone, salmon tartare served on a spoon with some salad. This was a matter of taste, I personally found it quite good. We had a goose consommé double, i.e. a goose broth as a starter (I think for €12). This was really way too salty. A strong taste is characteristic of a consommé, but that was really a few spoonfuls of bouillon powder too much, because it tasted exactly like Maggi powder. But oh well, we thought it would get better. The main course was duck pieces with red cabbage and potato tree cake (or similar) for €35. It was really beautifully prepared and smelled wonderful. But after the first few bites, I wasn't sure if I would actually eat it all. The potato tree cake was okay, it was very light and airy and tasted like lightly fried potatoes. I didn't find the duck pieces (a piece of breast, a piece of leg) ideally seasoned, although this is also a matter of taste. But when I looked around, I noticed that most people didn't think it was that good. However, this could also have other reasons. The skin of the duck seemed more boiled than fried, it was very soft and in my opinion even a bit tough. The meat was pink, so it wasn't completely cooked through, which shouldn't be the case with any poultry meat. Of course I also know that duck quickly becomes tough if it is cooked too hot, but for the price I would have thought that the chef could do something like that. Now to the red cabbage, bringing sweet accents to the red cabbage with a little apple and binding the acid a little is not a bad idea. But the red cabbage was way too sweet, cranberries were used instead of apple, which I don't think is a bad idea, but it tasted like the cook had mixed up salt and sugar. It was far too sweet, which is why half of the red cabbage went back.We were all very disappointed with the main course. For dessert there was a trio of chocolate mousse, panna cotta and crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was apparently made without any other sugar and no vanilla except for the sugar on top. It was basically just cream, milk and egg whisked together. The worst thing was that the crème brûlée separated, it was really flaky on top and almost liquid on the bottom. The panna cotta was similar, apparently made without sugar or vanilla but with woodruff. The consistency was the same. The mousse was quite tasty but was heavy like buttercream and not light and airy as you would expect. All in all I am very disappointed. In the end, the waitress preferred to stand in a corner and eat instead of serving. In the end, the staff didn't seem to really care that the wine had tartar or why almost none of our plates were empty.Still two stars because the service made an effort at the beginning and there was a buffet for children with, for example, fries and pasta. In the end you have to expect at least €50 per person.Unfortunately, I also have to say that due to the prices and the quality of the food, I'm not willing to give the mill another chance. You can't force it to be a higher class restaurant.P.S. Please check your cards for spelling.
