Visited with 800+ year old castle in the Franconian heartland of Germany. ||Only 24 rooms, but beautifully appointed, spotless clean, friendly and authentic team - combined with wonderful 1 star guide Michelin rates dining extravaganza… not cheap but with its money

Beautifully restored historic castle ensemble in a fantastic location above the castle's own vineyards. When you arrive, reception will comfortably chauffeur you and your luggage directly into the castle courtyard in a golf cart and show you to your room. The rooms are of high quality and newly furnished and have a spacious bathroom with rain shower, the beds are comfortable. Dinner took place in the castle's office building with traditional Franconian cuisine - we chose the 4-course menu. The flavors were all harmoniously balanced and the service was very attentive. We had accompanying summer wines from the castle winery. The breakfast was rich and fresh with local products. Overall, a wonderful short vacation with a high level of enjoyment and relaxation.

What an awesome place to visit and dine, the curb appeal alone of the exterior and pavilion is well kept. The food was well prepared and the staff was great.

We would be welcomed with a glass of champagne and shown into a beautiful room with a four-poster bed. You feel like a princess in the castle! The food was very good with a wonderful view of the vineyard and the castle garden. The breakfast was decoratively prepared and tasted excellent. The staffWas very friendly and happy to provide information. You can start hiking straight away in the adjacent forest. During our evening walk we discovered a rare stag beetle. The stay was a wonderful weekend and we would be happy to recommend the castle.

My review only refers to the historical part and does not represent a judgment of the hotel or restaurant. The castle can be seen from afar and is impressive. The complex has been extensively restored and the inner courtyard is accessible. This gives you an insight into the old facility. It was built as a counter-castle to Hinterfrankenberg. And that's where we come to the problem. Because Hinterfrankenberg Castle is left to decay, as are the old cemetery and the castle park. During a previous visit of mine there were still various figures made from different materials, but these have become considerably fewer. No wonder there are destroyed remains lying around in the cemetery. The pavilion there is also falling apart. Apparently they only care about Vorderfrankenberg, it brings in money. The rest just costs. You can use the lower parking spaces for parking. Or you can drive up in front of the castle and there is also space. And if not, turn right as indicated, there are more.

We really enjoyed our stay in this high-quality and wonderfully renovated castle. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. After the welcome champagne, our luggage was brought to the room by the very nice receptionist. The technical equipment of the room and the bathroom was perfect. Due to monument protection, the elevator could only be installed up to the first floor. You then had to walk a number of steep steps to the room. In the future, however, new rooms will be offered in a different wing with a lift up to the respective floors of the rooms. The breakfast was very lovingly prepared - nothing to be desired was left unfulfilled.Dinner in the “Le Frankenberg” restaurant, which will be rated separately, was a great experience. We can absolutely recommend this romantic location and are already planning our next stay.
