The location is great and the breakfast service staff are exceptionally courteous and friendly. The selection at the breakfast buffet is also good. However, the rooms are disappointing. 80s beech wood “chic”. Very sterile, a picture on the wall would certainly change that. And then a carpet that has seen better days. Old and not so comfortable - that might still be ok. But unfortunately the room was not cleaned properly. At least weeks worth of dust everywhere, and there are stains on the mirror that I prefer not to think about. Pretty gross. I would have liked to give feedback when checking out, unfortunately I wasn't asked how I liked it.

Since the hotel we had actually booked was overbooked, we were accommodated in a small lighthouse room in the Upstalsboom. Admittedly, when you arrive in Borkum for the first time and the hotel you originally booked has messed up your reservation, your enthusiasm initially leaves a lot to be desired. But compared to the hotel we actually booked, we were certainly lucky to stay here. The location is perfect, the view of the new lighthouse is a dream. Even though not everything has been renovated yet, we felt very comfortable and would like to come back next year.

Above all, you have to praise the team because there is a great spirit here. We had a nice view of the lighthouse and the square. Sun in the morning and no more direct sun in the evening, which had a good effect on the temperature.The breakfast was very, very good and you could take your time until 12 o'clock. The American fried egg was almost always on point and always freshly prepared. Salmon, oat milk and delicious café rounded off the ambience.On our wedding day we were greeted with a beautifully arranged table. Thank you very much for this great moment.Great restaurant recommendations and the good mood of the staff were part of the day.We wish the team much success with the planned and current renovation measures.We'll come back when everything is ready 😁

Full marks in the overall rating because for me the price/performance ratio was just right for me. Because the hotel was quite empty, I got a free room upgrade. The renovation work is still in progress. You can also see this in the rooms. Here and there there were still adhesive strips from the painter, the ceiling flaps in the bathroom were still open, all the lamps were not plugged into the socket. slight smell of paint throughout the complex. Breakfast is really very... very good and the staff are super friendly. I would have liked the tables to be set for breakfast. It has a bit of a canteen feel when you have to get the dishes yourself. And that somehow doesn't suit the hotel. Unfortunately there is no covered, enclosed parking space for high-quality e-bikes. I was able to park mine in the hallway on the ground floor. That was fine with me. So the whole thing can still be expanded as a whole due to ongoing renovation work. But I was also able to book it cheaply.

My parents were very happy with the Upstalboom chain based on previous vacations and were therefore also looking for an Upsalboom hotel in Borkum.You arrived there with positive expectations.You came back early with bitter disappointment!The staff was unfriendly, uncaring and disinterested.The hotel is not anywhere near what you would expect from other locations.Example A:When I kindly asked about a different mattress/topper for the bed (due to chronic back pain), they simply replied that there was nothing.You would then have had to book another room. When asked whether it was possible to rebook to another room. Only a curt “NO” was uttered.If that doesn't work, you should look for another hotel.Example B:Hot drinks were ordered in the lobby (tea and coffee).After a while of waiting, the drinks finally arrived._ COLD_When I asked why the drinks were cold, the service employee replied brusquely, "He has to take care of customers."All in all, even more situations have arisen that would go beyond the scope here.My parents were loyal customers of the hotel chain and always recommended it positively.After this bitter disappointment, you will definitely not do this again or book any more holidays in Upstalsboom Hotels.The fact that standards shift like this - depending on the location - is almost unreasonable and absolutely not recommended.My parents then left early.There was absolutely no feeling of relaxation and vacation here.Not recommendable.

On their website they write that the hotel is barrier-free. That's not true! I am a wheelchair user and the elevator is too small. The chair didn't fit in the elevator. In addition, the elevator had technical problems at least once a day. Just like the locking system on the hotel door. In the evening you stood in front of the door with other guests and couldn't get in.

We had a large, bright room with a view of the lighthouse and the sea, with a super comfortable king-size bed in which I (with my insomnia) could finally sleep through the night. The room and bathroom were nice, large and clean.The breakfast had everything your heart could desire. You could put together your own breakfast every day.Service staff was nice and helpful.Reception staff was very helpful with tips and information for excursions.I was very happy with everything.The only negative part is the (unfortunately slow) elevator.Nevertheless, I give it an honest five stars in every area.LG from the Palatinate
