Landhotel Zum Goldenen Kreuz

Get away from the big city and relax and unwind for a few days in a good hotel in the country. That was the thought that led us to the country hotel “Zum goldenen Kreuz”. You can find peace and quiet here if you haven't booked a room above the entrance area (e.g. rooms 8 and 9). Here you have to expect that even late at night there will still be a few guests sitting in the small beer garden in front of it and talking (loudly).However, if you complain about the bells ringing in the small chapel next door, you should find out in advance where you would like to go on holiday. Of course, the piercing sound of the bright bell at 6:00 a.m. is a very harsh alarm clock, but it is not only a wonderful Bavarian tradition here to ring in the day with the Angelus (and also to ring it out in the evening). I can also complain about crowing roosters or mooing cows in the countryside. Guys - why even drive to a place like this!?!The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff very accommodating. The many mosquitoes in the room were quite an annoying (albeit rural) nuisance. Although all (modern) windows are equipped with fly screens, these are not installed so that the little pests can easily find their way into the warm interior and give you restless nights.Dear team from the "Golden Cross" - please make sure to readjust here, and that can be taken literally!The welcome was - let's say: rustic!The waitresses in the evening in the restaurant and also in the morning at breakfast were incredibly professional, open, friendly and quick.The breakfast buffet is small and manageable, but leaves nothing to be desired. Eggs are freshly prepared to order and are constantly replenished. The fact that the staff sometimes doesn't keep up with clearing the tables can be forgiven. Particularly worth mentioning is the very fresh fruit salad and warm regional sausage specialties that change every day.The absolute highlight of our stay, however, was the dinner. The chef's services are terrific and the price-performance ratio is far more than fair. You don't have to look for another restaurant nearby (as is often the case in a hotel like this).Nowhere else have I eaten such fluffy and fluffy liver dumplings in a rich broth as here. The handmade Schupfnudeln are also incredibly light on the inside and wonderfully crispy on the outside. All the meat dishes we tried melted in our mouths - especially the ox cheeks and the venison ragout. But the steaks (in-house dry-age cupboard for everyone to see!) are also wonderfully tender and the desired degree of doneness is just right.All in all: You can enjoy this great things in the countryside too; It absolutely doesn't have to be the Munich Schicki-Micki restaurant!

It was a great vacation. I can only recommend the hotel. Breakfast and dinner, just great. The staff and service were very friendly. A trip here is worth it.

A very great hotel for me it is worth at least 4 stars. A great concept, everyone was very friendly. I often stayed in hotels here across Europe and really enjoyed it. Definitely recommended. Onur Karaca September 18, 2024

A beautiful, new hotel in a quiet location. The rooms are clean and the staff are helpful. The breakfast is also varied and distinctive for the countryside.
