We were here for a short vacation (hiking). First of all, the price is crazy. Anyone who books must know that they don't have 5 stars here. However, there are a few small points of criticism. Bathroom urgently needs to be renovated, shower rather than tub. And the shower curtain is unhygienic. Exterior facade and balconies urgently need to be done. When eating out, it's better not to eat all-inclusive, a bit of fruit for breakfast at dinner is also room for improvement. The entire staff is great, regardless of their type. High praise

Went there with our son for the third year in a row and just came home today. It was another great, relaxing vacation. A lot of positive things have happened at the hotel. Caretakers were often seen working, the elevator was modernized, the playground was completely overhauled and the food tasted even better than in previous years. We can't understand all this food criticism! Yes, there was almost always the same sausage at breakfast, but at dinner there were three different dishes in buffet form every evening, which were never the same as the previous evening. If the biggest critic, a child, likes it, then it can't be that bad. What we find very unfortunate is that the swimming pool/sauna will no longer be accessible from next year. According to the reception there would be a sauna in the house, but no swimming pool. Whether we'll go there again is anyone's guess. Otherwise, we can only recommend the hotel (cleanliness, staff) and the surrounding area, especially for families.

It was actually a nice vacation. I have to criticize the food. Of course, you have to compromise on the price. But you should still make more variety possible. If you have the same sausage and cheese for breakfast for 7 days, you can start to wonder. The cook could also have come up with more variety for dinner.

We like to go to the Pfahl Hotel again and again because it is the right hotel for us to spend a nice short vacation with a good price/performance ratio in the Bavarian Forest. We feel comfortable there because it is clean, the food tastes good (the buffet is always refilled) and the entire staff is friendly and quick. Even room requests are fulfilled. Just got back from a wonderful vacation. Everything fit. The accommodation, the food, the connection to the bus/train. Can't understand all the negative reviews. If you expect a 5 star hotel, you of course have to book a 5 star hotel. Conclusion: price/performance top.

We were there for 4 days and arrived at midday.We weren't told where or how anything was so we had to explore everything ourselves.The food is very boring for vegans as well as for vegetarians it is very poor or there is nothing.And for those who don't eat pigs, all that's left is the side dish or this comforting loose salad, either all green or white. Unfortunately, there are no more colored salads.The breakfast, well, the same spectacle every day, the same, nothing imaginative.Too bad.But quite good for the price

Booked the largest room and promised to come, (with dog Labrador) only received a very small room. Equipment: worn, broken furniture. Windows/walls dirty. Food ok, staff friendly.Outdoor area including pool ok.It was there once, I don't have to have it anymore.

We stayed in the hotel for 6 days. The rooms are very simple. There isn't even an armchair, see pictures. No flower or other accessory. Actually like a barn, totally loveless. The fan in the bathroom didn't work either. We complained about this at reception. Nobody cared about it for the whole 6 days.The staff at the reception do their job listlessly. Dinner should be served in buffet form. There were 4 different salads and then e.g. Schnitzel with 3 different side dishes. The next day a roast with 3 different types of rice. This is not a buffet for me!The structural condition is getting old. We had the impression that the hotel was being worn out. Pull out as much money as possible and then leave.We will no longer visit this hotel and cannot recommend it.

Our small tour group really enjoyed our 10-day stay. We enjoyed the buffet-style food and it was never empty. The service staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The rooms were large and had a balcony. The swimming pool and saunas were in top condition. The price-performance ratio was right.We felt very comfortable and will come back.

I stayed at the Hotel am Pfahl with my two daughters for a week and we felt very comfortable. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and 2 saunas. It has a large outdoor area with a playground.

"Okay" for staying overnight - buffets fill you up, the dining room with a train station atmosphere doesn't invite you to linger. Reception very assertive, not very cooperative.

I'll be honest, I don't understand the extreme negative reviews at all. The staff is super friendly and helpful. What I don't understand is dog owners who don't clean up their leftovers, we have a dog ourselves and I can't understand that at all, but that's not a negative point against the hotel. The breakfast was also great, everything you needed was there, you never had more. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the lunch snack because we didn't take advantage of it. The coffee time was also great, simple but sufficient. The evening meal was also completely sufficient, I'm very picky about food and can't tolerate much, but I always found something. The room was also very clean, you can't say anything against that. It was a shame that the chess wasn't complete, but that's not a negative point either. Overall we were satisfied.

A beautiful, old hotel in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by many trees. The rooms have a lot of charm and are generous in size. Very nice lobby with very nice ladies at the reception. The hotel's own café on the terrace is also inviting. You can also have breakfast and dinner here.The service staff was also very friendly and hardworking. The buffet was always refilled immediately and the used dishes were quickly cleared away. A plus is the swimming pool in the neighboring house, which can be reached directly from the main house. With the guest card you also have free entry to the outdoor pool every day. Right next door, fence after fence. There is also a playground and plenty of green open space. There are also vouchers for e.g. 2 euros for the Lohberg Zoo. With the guest card you also save another 1 euro.A visit to the amusement park in Sankt Englmar with toboggan runs is also recommended. Especially since entry itself is free. You buy toboggan chips or Gaudutaler there, which are then redeemed at the shops.The food in the hotel was served as a buffet. Breakfast was kept quite simple with 2 types of rolls, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs every 2 days, various types of sausage and cheese. Muesli, yogurt, quark, jam and honey.For dinner there was a salad buffet and two main courses as a buffet. It tasted very good and was always refilled quickly. The quality was great, especially for the price. We absolutely cannot understand the complaints. In the evening you can also order cocktails, wine, etc. on the terrace or at the bar.We were very happy and sad when we went home. My 7 year old even cried about it.The only drawback is the parking situation. You have to be lucky or reserve a space in the carport in advance.All in all a very nice holiday. Many thanks to the entire team for their warmth and great work. We wish you only the best.
