We were on a school trip with our class, everything was fine and dandy, but then one evening our classmates came out of their rooms screaming because there were XXL beetles in the sink in their room. Others always had 10 stink beetles in their room. We thought we were lucky but then tomorrow. A friend found a disgusting XXL beetle with a thousand legs in our house. Shortly afterwards a fat spider in the bed. And beetles in the picture frames that have nested there. Traumatic experienceThis youth hostel does not comply with the hygiene regulations of the law and I am outraged

An overnight stay that wasn't one - friendliness is very important hereWe wanted to stay overnight at the Passau youth hostel after our long bike ride from Regensburg to Passau - or so we thought. We announced each other by phone in the afternoon and the price sounded fair. When we arrived we found out that we would have to pay almost twice as much for our lack of membership. Surprise!Unfortunately, the staff was as friendly as the headwind that accompanied us all day - in other words: not at all. But okay, we thought, the main thing is a bed. Unfortunately, there were not only beds waiting in the women's dormitory, but also dogs waiting under the blankets of a guest. Forbidden according to the terms and conditions, but who cares? When we asked, we were given the helpful tip: “You can check out.” Of course, at half past nine in the evening, when the campsites are already closed - a dream!Ultimately, we were not offered an alternative and were left at the door. A warm “goodbye” sounded different. Conclusion: If you're looking for adventure, you've come to the right place - but you'll have to look elsewhere for friendliness and service.

Good youth hostel. You can't expect more for 36.90. Those who don't shower save the most water. Those who don't eat have the most vegan lifestyle and don't have to wait in line for the shortest breakfast buffet in the world. Negative: The thematically related torture museum is not in the immediate vicinity. Positive: It basically works without any workers, so there is no shortage of skilled workers. Clear recommendation! A real experience!

Great location next to the Oberhaus fortress with a great view over the old town of Passau. A bit difficult to reach, you think twice about going down and up again, quite a steep path. There is a private shuttle bus to the town hall every half hour in summer, but it is quite expensive at five euros for a five-minute ride. The youth hostel itself is ok, rooms are quite small, breakfast is ok, shower and toilets in the hallway. There is a table tennis table, but that's about it.However, friendliness urgently needs to be worked on. The lady at the front desk runs this place like a boarding school in the 50s. You don't feel welcome here at all. From 9:30 p.m. the youth hostel is closed and there is no one on site. Given the high prices, I don't think that's okay.Guests who are late find themselves in front of a locked door. A holidaymaker from Asia who arrived shortly before 10 p.m. because his train from Salzburg was delayed had no chance of getting his reserved and paid overnight stay. We let him in and gave him a mattress and bedding from our room and he slept in the ping pong room. The next morning the lady at reception scolded us for letting strangers in.The man had a booking and his calls to the posted phone number were not answered. Nobody at the youth hostel thought of sending him an access code and leaving his room key.Overall, a very unpleasant experience. The condescending and rude manner of the lady at the reception is unacceptable.

So the rooms were quite good, the beds were okay, the view was very nice and had enough lockers. I found the service to be normal but the location is not good. You have to walk up and down a mountain and it's not the best either. You always come up sweaty!

The youth hostel has a great location. There are plenty of free parking spaces near the youth hostel. The rooms are a nice size, but the furnishings are a bit old. Unfortunately there is no blackout option for the windows, which is very annoying in summer. We used the communal sanitary facilities. These are in need of some renovation. The shower heads are more reminiscent of a sandblaster and apparently there is no protection against scalding - the water was very hot at the beginning - generally very unfavorable, especially for children. The breakfast was sensational, top selection and everything was beautifully presented. The staff was also extremely friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back.
