Very nice surroundings and nice to look at from the outside, but the hut was closed today on a sunny April Saturday, even though the hiking signs say open and there are lots of hungry and thirsty hikers sitting in front of it. So it's better to pack plenty of food and drink like in the GDR era!

Very nice place, great view.Unfortunately there is no notification that the restaurant is closed. You could put a message downstairs and on the hut! This would also look good on the website. We were here with the whole family after about 40 years and wanted to remember and have a nice day - what a shame!

We would like to thank the Schneidersgrund team, especially the Hengelhaupt family, for their tireless commitment and warm hospitality!We feel totally comfortable every time and always look forward to the next visit.Even small extra requests are fulfilled benevolently and with a relaxed smile 😊Please keep it up, unfortunately there are far too few of them, we thank you very much and certainly most of the other guests too 🙏🏻(The Häckelkurs group)Again we had a really nice and cozy evening in the hut on the Schneidersgrund 🛖Despite our spontaneous and very late arrival time of 10 p.m., we were still welcomed with open arms and extremely warmly by the Hengelhaupt family 🤗In keeping with the summer temperatures, there were even special, refreshing drinks that are not normally on the menu, such as Aperol Spritz or Havana Cola 🍹🥃Even the kitchen hadn't closed yet and we got delicious homemade soup and cake to fortify us 🍲🍰All you can say again and again is keep it up, it's nice that you take such touching care of all the visitors 🙏🏻The loyal Suhl regulars

Hut in the Thuringian Forest

The hut can be reached after an entertaining climb via a well-graveled access road. On Pentecost Sunday, folk music was played first and then live music. The grilled sausages were OK as long as they weren't on the grill for too long. There is a toilet on site.
