Were there with the class in summer 2018, my memories were that the rooms were too small and sometimes unhygienic, the beds were rusty and also too small, the rooms were so small that there was only a small gap between the bed and the wardrobe. There was a socket in the rooms (be sure to take a power strip with you). The wardrobes were also quite small. The sanitary facilities were okay, perhaps not up to date, but they were enough for personal hygiene. Otherwise, the house itself was very nicely decorated with products from the region, the management was quite nice but took a bit of getting used to. The two kitchen employees at the time were ok, but you didn't want to wash dishes xD. The food was very tasty and there was a nice buffet at breakfast and dinner. There was a gymnasium where you could play football, tennis, dodgeball, handball, etc. There was also a small party there. It was very cool that we were allowed to organize that as 16 year olds :) There was also an outdoor area there, a large soccer field with two goals where we could play against There was also a room to play with. There was also an area for smaller ones. The location was very good and you had a beautiful view of the Harz landscape. It was a 20 minute walk to the city where in 2018 there was still a local shop. We were there with two classes from Berlin, it was great fun and we have great memories.

I can say that from my memory everything was beautiful, cozy, loving and nice.My parents and I vacationed there every year, at the beginning of the year, for 10 years or so. Although I was a child, my parents never had anything to complain about. We went on winter vacation there and it was never too cold or too warm, the sanitary facilities were never dirty or anything like that, we were allowed to use the boiler room for our cold and wet clothes after sledding. It was a wonderful childhood and only beautiful memories remain. Not only about time but also about family. Everything was friendly and beautiful. Not only the tradition but also the memories that remain cannot be replaced.Thank you for everything.

Very nice, a strange and old building but lovingly run and maintained. Still a nice destination for school trips.

We spent a weekend here with 22 people. It was beautiful. The hostel parents prepared everything very well and pampered us. We would love to come back. All I can say to the critics: ....book a 5-star hotel.

We were there as a group of athletes in August. We haven't had anything this nice in a long time. Extra requests or meal times are no problem. We even got wheat beer glasses for the evening.Food was great. Plenty for the athletes. The veggi is also really great. Breakfast was sufficient and well prepared. Everything lovingly prepared. We travel a lot, so it's enough to ONLY sleep in the rooms. For everyone else: it's a youth hostel! Means that there are communal showers. Separated into male and female. Likewise toilets.Anyone who expects the standard of a hotel has completely the wrong idea.We have booked again for next year with a large group of athletes.A hostel couple who do everything with love and dedication. Really great.
