The review refers to the booking of a double room with breakfast and dinner in September.Per:- Super delicious, varied, diverse breakfast- Tasty, rich dinner, second helpings possible- Extremely affordable prices for accommodation, meals, snacks and drinks- A wide range of hot and cold snacks and drinks, some of which can also be ordered as a packed lunch- Cozy room, nicely decorated in colors with a comfortable bed, small table and simple armchairs, with balcony and window front, nice and bright- Bathroom with window and shower- Very friendly and personable owners who respond to special requests- Incredibly huge selection of board and card games, plenty of space to play- Beautiful dining area in the winter garden, comfortably furnished, flooded with lightCons:- No additional storage space in the bathroom (besides the edge of the sink, cistern and high window sill)- Moisture in the bathroom is difficult to evaporate- The furnishings are a bit older in places, so you can, for example, have the door handle in your hand, but everything is within the framework and easy to use

We spent a long weekend hiking, playing and eating delicious vegan food with Nina, Björn and the children and we were thrilled. A very long delay on our part for public transport was not a problem, and the departure was also flexible. The food was great! In particular, lots of fresh vegetables at breakfast, various homemade spreads every day (we had raspberry jam, apple-mint jelly, peanut-banana butter, coconut cream, hummus, vegetable spread and vegan meat) and Nina's homemade cold cuts made the breakfast a highlight. The dinner was always great, second helpings were no problem. The snack menu presented us with the challenge of moderation :)You can walk or hike at various levels nearby, information material and maps are available, as well as exciting literature that fits the topic.Playing was a highlight - the collection is gigantic, there is always someone there and the room is cozy and inviting.I guess I read other reviews here too. But I occasionally ask myself about the requirements. We can't get any other accommodation for this price, especially not vegan. And the homepage explains the concept of the guesthouse wonderfully and clearly - we felt very comfortable with it. We would be happy to come back when the opportunity arises. The only disadvantage is that getting there without a car is a little more complicated, but we have that every vacation ;)

We were there for the second time, ended our visit and voluntarily drove home late in the evening with our two small children with all our luggage so that we didn't have to stay there a minute longer than …

We've been there several times with the family and have always felt very comfortable and welcome. Great food, functional but always clean rooms and an unbeatably beautiful and quiet location. Plus regular excursion tips at breakfast, be it from the host family or other guests. The gigantic collection of games should also not go unmentioned, with something for every need, age and time budget!

I can now only write about my experience, which was over 7 years ago and I still remember it very positively.I vacationed in the vegan mountain guesthouse with my sister in November 2015.At the time I was 2 months pregnant and that's when I had my first bouts of nausea. My sister described the situation and somehow I was looked after with compassion and was given lots of ginger tea to combat the nausea, so that it was bearable despite the circumstances.I always remember the holiday positively and so do my sisters.I can't remember a bad interior design either, especially since I'm personally a person who would prefer useful over aesthetic anyway. :)So like I said, the whole thing was over 7 years ago.

Unfortunately, what was a clear recommendation turned into a huge disappointment. I was always happy to be a guest in the mountain guesthouse, whether alone, with family, or with vegan groups. The decor is quite rustic, but you can't complain about the price-performance ratio. Beautiful location, extremely delicious food and an amazing game collection. But then: On the last visit with a vegan group, some of them arrived a little later because they missed a connecting bus to the mountain, but we were told by phone that there was absolutely no problem, that the owner's grumpy mood suggested something else - but hey, everyone has a bad day sometimes. When, after this visit, we made another reservation for a group, which was only confirmed by the - always friendly - owner, the man called us back. People would yell at me and I didn't even know what was going on because they always got along and were always happy to recommend the mountain guesthouse. Between the confused and loud words it was said that they had behaved in an impossible way during their last visit and had also broken a toilet seat and that the group was no longer welcome. Zack hung up.I first had to compose myself, completely shocked - no one in the group could understand it because they were always respectful towards one another. We suspect that the later arrival didn't suit him, as he "feigned?" on site. And we actually remember a defective toilet seat, which was politely reprimanded/addressed by the owner on the day of arrival, but it was also emphasized that it was okay for us. The glasses had a crack in them, which was a little uncomfortable when sitting on them, but as I said, it was okay for us. We just wanted it to be known for future guests who might react differently to such defects than we do.I then even wrote a factual email in which I asked the matter to be clarified sensibly, as there may simply have been a misunderstanding. But unfortunately there was never an answer.Such an approach is extremely unfortunate and sad and has offended many in our club and group. We still don't know what exactly triggered the owner to treat us like this. We find it extremely unfortunate that there were problems that he did not address them directly during the last visit and that he was unfortunately not the least bit interested in discussing the matter calmly. The whole story was over 2 years ago, but when I recently read on Facebook and here in the comments that others had also reported on the owner's unfriendliness, I wanted to once again express my - very disappointed - view of things give.P.S. Afterwards we are open to contacting you to clarify the matter.

We have just spent our seventh holiday in the mountain guesthouse and were warmly welcomed as usual. We always look forward to the food. The breakfast with delicious homemade cold cuts, creative sweet and savory spreads and homemade jams is really delicious and plentiful. At lunchtime Björn provides us with lovingly filled baguettes, sandwiches, puff pastries and other little things. In the afternoon we enjoy coffee from the Zapatista coffee collective and Nina's homemade cake. We also often enjoyed their seasonal cakes. Muffins or donuts are regularly served. We enjoy the terrace and let our gaze wander towards the Brocken. In winter, the winter garden, which is also the dining room, becomes cozy and cozy thanks to the electric fireplace. We always enjoy coming there because we feel welcome there and because we meet interesting people there. There is always a lively exchange on hiking routes and it is not uncommon to find lovely people with whom you can meet up for board games. There is a truly gigantic collection there! These enriching encounters are much more important to us personally than the color of the flooring or the year of the furniture, which have been criticized in other reviews. We are also aware that a guesthouse with 27 beds, run by two adults without employees, is not a hotel chain but the home of a family with 3 children. Therefore we do not expect 24/7 service. The price-performance ratio is 100% right here.We have lived in various double rooms and also the holiday apartment over the last 8 years. We were always absolutely satisfied with the cleanliness and didn't miss anything when it came to the furnishings. Since we already spent our vacation there when our children were still at toddler and daycare age, we are always very happy that there are no expensive decorative knick-knacks and that the furnishings are practical and robust. Our children always feel right at home in the mountain guesthouse!A big plus for staying with children is the absolutely quiet location at the top of the mountain. Our children can move around the area on their own and use the playground around the corner. It's only a 3-minute walk to the start of the fitness trail and the sculpture trail and several hiking routes also start there. A good place to collect stamps for the “Harzer Wandernadel”!On the homepage we found information that no dogs were allowed to be brought along and by phone we were informed that there were no cats living in the house. For my husband, who is severely allergic to animal hair, this is a real blessing.Since dinner is always written on the board by the drinks fridge in the hallway in the morning, it was never a problem to talk about an alternative during the morning if we knew our children wouldn't like something. The hosts always came with good suggestions, which the kids agreed on.In the drinks fridge there are spritzers, lemonades and cola drinks (some fair and/or organic). The beer is regional. There is also water and spirits. The billing of rooms and drinks always ran smoothly.Since there are ATMs in both nearby Altenau and Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the cash payment requested by the hosts at the end of the stay is not a problem. We are happy to give 5 stars for the great overall package and are looking forward to spending time in this great place with its lovely people at Christmas.

We had a great time in the vegan mountain guesthouse and were welcomed in a very friendly and pleasant manner. The food was super tasty and varied. We were there without a car. So we went hiking in the immediate area, which was very nice and there are many different routes with different levels of difficulty. If you like skating: there are optimal routes right on the Ocher.Public transport is available but not well connected. The large game collection is ideal for rainy gaming days or the evening. We got great tips on what to play well.Nina and Björn describe very well on their website what the expectations are in the guesthouse. Thank you for the great time!

The breakfast was always very varied, very tasty and filling. There is also the option of being catered for at lunchtime. We particularly liked the Macintosh Cheese and the Chili con "Carne" in the evening. Dinner was sometimes too salty for our taste. There was also a small dessert with every dinner, which was very tasty and a perfect rounding off.For milkshakes we can also recommend the coconut cocoa and the refreshing lemon “buttermilk”.
