So first let me say, the view is wonderful. But then it gets difficult. We were at the Ochsen yesterday on a Sunday evening with almost 20 people. We also made reservations accordingly. We were there at 6 p.m. Shortly after 6 p.m. we ordered drinks and asked to order food for the 3 children in advance because they were very hungry. The children's food came at 7:30 p.m. The last meal for everyone else was at 9pm, even though we all ordered together. There were never more than 2 meals and then there was nothing for at least 10 minutes. That was pretty much the most intense thing we've ever experienced. The damage is probably on the tables, which have already bitten into the edge of the table in desperation. We were close. 11.90 euros for 2 really small schnitzels (more like nuggets) without a side dish wasn't cheap. The rest of the food was good, but perhaps that was because it was definitely a better option than the edge of the table. We will therefore definitely not come back. It's a shame, more could be done with it.

After our hike we stopped at the Gasthaus zum Ochsen for dinner. We got a nice table on the terrace with a great view of the vineyards and Basel. The service was friendly, although a little stressful and a bit forgetful about repeat orders. This was certainly due to the full terrace and the overcrowded interior at the time. The food was delicious and well seasoned. Certainly a rustic Baden kitchen without a lot of frills, but we knew what we wanted and where we were so it was completely fine. There was sausage and cheese salad, omelette with ham and cordon bleu with fried potatoes. Large portions with a good price-performance ratio in our opinion. The only thing that bothered us a little was the long waiting times and, above all, that the food wasn't served together. First one came, then at some point the next and then at some point the rest. Unfortunately we couldn't eat together, which we thought was a bit of a shame. Nevertheless, we had a lovely afternoon with the best views and weather and would love to come back to the Gasthaus zum Ochsen.

With one of the most beautiful views of Basel, we had dinner on the Ochsen terrace in fantastic weather. The sour Läberli and the classic sausage salad were very tasty. Ellen served us super friendly and quickly. The only detraction are the uncomfortable garden chairs, which urgently need to be replaced.

We were here for lunch with friends and were amazed at how good and beautiful the menu was served even though the entire restaurant was practically full! We would like to thank the kitchen and the service, we will definitely come here to eat again!

Beautiful location with a wonderful view of the vines and surroundings. Terrace beautifully shaded under old linden trees. Drinks came quickly and were fine. But we had to wait 40 minutes for the side salad. Another 15 minutes for the main course, even though there were only two other guests there at that time who were just having a drink!!! The quality of the main courses was below all cannon. Schnitzel and pasta from the discounter, liver extremely hard and tough, bread, although homemade, very dry and too compact. The high price for the bad food was not appropriate!! Extreme waiting times with few guests doesn't make a good impression!!!!The Ochsen is only suitable for having a drink outside in beautiful surroundings and views. Not more!! I won't eat there again!
