Visit on Fridays, dinner, group. The ambience of the restaurant is quite appealing, the tables are set to a "higher standard". The service was good. The wine was ok (although there is definitely better in Hattenheim, but that's a matter of taste). The bread before the meal was great, it came with salted butter and pickles. As a starter we had "Fresh Fried Chanterelles" (€24 as a starter), which was shared between two people. There could have been a few more chanterelles, there was little of the advertised "risotto" noticeable, but more of the advertised "foam". So: rather little on the plate. Another person had this as a main course (€32) and was also dissatisfied with the quantity. 1 person had "Wiener Schnitzel" as a main course (32 €) and was satisfied. My main course was "Sauerbraten from organic grass-fed beef" (32 €), and I was completely dissatisfied with it: on the plate there was a large pool of a black-brown sauce in which I could see 2 black-brown pieces of meat, along with 2 dumplings and cranberry sauce served separately. Preparation. From the (unpleasant) appearance, the meat and sauce were not made/prepared in a restaurant kitchen, but were probably convenience goods of lower quality. This food was not good for my digestive tract and it reacted violently. Conclusion: This meal was definitely not good, I will avoid that in the future. For our €114 (for 2 people, plus tip) there is better somewhere else.

Upscale restaurant in a historic half-timbered house in Hattenheim. Reservation is strongly recommended. Good cuisine with a regional focus. Not exclusively, but to a large extent. 4 course menu with wine accompaniment is really recommended. Plan time to chat and enjoy. Wines from the region. With detailed explanation. Gladly again. The lighting could be reconsidered. It's historical, but dim. Unfortunately, the food doesn't really come into its own. Otherwise, thank you very much, dear Laufer family and team.

Who knows who else will fall for something here? The suckling lamb seemed to have seen the whole of the Pyrenees, the meat was so tough. The waitress had problems carving the meat at the table and replied to our criticism that her husband, the boss, always buys it from his friend in France. Maybe he should reconsider the meat or the friendship?!

Beautiful and cozy inn that exceeds the 3-star status in many ways. The bathroom was new and the room was spacious. In our opinion, the room furniture was no longer up to date, but completely OK. Overall, the house is a good mix of traditional Rheingau inn with modernity. A big plus point for the cleanliness in all areas. The restaurant cuisine is excellent, as is the wine selection (and recommendations). The service in the hotel and in the restaurant is friendly and attentive.
