We went on a hike to the Hochgernhaus with our 2 girls (9 and 14 years old) and spent the night there. We received a very warm welcome and we all felt very comfortable there. There is simply nothing missing there, the location and view are fantastic, the dishes are all freshly prepared and very tasty! The next morning, after a great breakfast, we went to the summit of Hochgern, then went back to the hut on the descent to eat one of the best Kaiserschmarrn, which simply has to be tried! It was an absolute adventure for our children and us; we won't be here for the last time. I recommend this great and unforgettable trip, especially as a family! Thanks again for everything, to Maike, Ali and Tom!

I was looking for a break from my lowland Tyrolean existence and that's why I stayed here for 3 nights in the Hochgernhaus. I experienced the hustle and bustle on a public holiday and on 2 rainy days. The innkeepers Maike and Ali (Thomas) and the rest of the team took great care of the guests. Everyone really enjoyed the stews and soups and especially the Kaiserschmarrn. However, everyone who comes up here should also know that they are in a mountain hut and not at McDonalds (one guest complained because he didn't have his soup within 3 minutes). The rooms were clean, I enjoyed staying here. Maike and Ali, I wish you much success and many satisfied guests.

This has been the starting point for our mountain bike tours for years. The Hochgernhaus is almost always open, the staff is friendly and the food is good. Keep it up!

Like the others, we were thrilled with the Hochgernhaus, its ambience, the view, the beautiful rooms that we looked at for an upcoming overnight stay, the wonderful food and the really exceptionally friendly innkeepers Ali, Meike and Tom as well as the others who helped that we felt completely comfortable.

We were guests at the Hochgernhaus with our 3 children (3, 6, 8) from Sun to Mon. Booking by phone was easy and friendly. After arriving we were able to shower and move into the 8-person camp (which we had to ourselves). Everything was clean, with pillows and blankets. After breakfast (small breakfast buffet with bread, cheese, sausage, various jams, Nutella, coffee, tea, orange juice, muesli, eggs,...) the hut landlord even took time to go behind the house with our children to go on a marmot photo hunt. As a farewell, all three received a certificate for their successful climb to the Hochgernhaus. For the children it was an unforgettable adventure, for us parents it was a pleasant and relaxing stay. Many thanks to the friendly hosts Ali and Meike!

The food is super delicious! Everything is very clean and cozy and the innkeepers are really nice, attentive and very child-friendly. Only the sink in the triple room was missing.

We were there yesterday, the food was very good, the landlord was very friendly and our 3 dogs were welcome! Unfortunately the view wasn't that great (fog) and we also saw marmots!

Beautiful hut with a sunny terrace on the way to the Hochgern summit, which can be reached from there in just under an hour. With a bit of luck you can see marmots

We loved this place. The owner was very friendly. He spoke english very well. We liked the food as well, the Kürbis-Karrotten-Ingwer Suppe, Speckbrot and the Kaiserschmarrm was perfect.We visited it twice during our hike to Hochgern.

After taking over the current hut landlord, we are very happy to be in the Hochgernhaus again. Great view, as ever.Great food and a very friendly hut owner who likes to take time for his guests. We were there with a friend from the USA, and for her it was her first little “mountain tour”.On her birthday, she received a small certificate for her “first ascent,” which she was very happy about. Something like that will be remembered positively. Thank you very much for that and see you next time.

We were at the hut for our birthday party (50th!!!🎉) with 4 girls (under my husband's account), which was completely booked. The reception was beautiful in terms of the view and the hosts were very warm. We felt welcome straight away. In the evening there was a barbecue with a wonderful salad buffet and fantastic baked potatoes with herb quark! For dessert there was very tasty Kaiserschmarrn😋 The innkeepers, apparently only there since November 2023, were very warm, attentive and funny! You can really enjoy your stay there. The rooms were very clean, as were the toilets and showers. The breakfast left nothing to be desired, especially the homemade Bircher muesli was brilliant! After breakfast we went up to the summit (absolutely!) and then stopped back for lunch. Lentil soup and goulash soup highly recommended. Of course we also had to try the homemade cake (all of them!). Very fine! And then Ali served the insider tip: Swiss stone pine liqueur!The farewell was also very warm. Ali, we'll be back!!!! Many thanks to the great team at Hochgernhaus!

I celebrated my birthday there with a large group. It was really wonderful. The hospitality of the innkeepers is unique. After arriving we were all kind enough to shower upstairs. In the evening we had a barbecue with a variety of homemade salads, everyone enjoyed it so much. When it came to Kaiserschmarrn, many people agreed that they had eaten the best Kaiserschmarrn of their lives 😀The overnight stay in the sleeping camp was good. The breakfast with boiled eggs and homemade Bircher muesli was also really good. The house, the living room and the terrace are so beautiful with a wonderful view. If you're lucky, you'll see marmots behind the hut. The climb is easy to do from Marquardtstein.Thank you for everything! I can only recommend the Hochgernhaus to everyone 🙂

The Hochgernhaus is always worth a visit. Since the ownership took over again and the team was reorganized inside and outside the kitchen, it is no exaggeration to say that the Hochgernhaus is one of the most beautiful excursion destinations in Chiemgau. 5 stars for hospitality, food and accommodation.
