The guesthouse is very clean, quiet and cozy - a real oasis in Gerolstein. If you read the reviews from a few years ago, then you need to know this: These were noticed by the owner, and the cottage looks and feels brand new, with a touch of Wanderlust nostalgia. I would also like to mention the owner's excellent hospitality :)

Although there was no room for us in the guesthouse, we were allowed to shower and dry our things there, which was a great pleasure after several days of hiking and wet tents in our luggage. The owner was very nice and helpful. They were really a great help. Thank you again

Mr. Jaax is a super nice gentleman with a cozy guesthouse in a good location. There is a nice terrace adjacent to the common room where we were also able to dry our wet clothes. I haven't met such hospitable people in a long time!

Stayed in a so-called holiday apartment for 4 nights. It hasn't been cleaned for months. There are leftovers from the previous one in the bathroom and kitchen. The windows haven't been cleaned in years and everything is dusty and dirty. The smell isn't bad either. Never again. Unfortunately, we had already made a voluntary transfer in advance.

There is a kitchen with a dishwasher and you can also do laundry. Unfortunately the house is very noisy.

It is questionable how these four good reviews came about. In August I went on a hiking tour over the Eifelsteig with my sister and since it was unfortunately very fully booked, this guesthouse was our accommodation (luckily for just one night).About the room: It is very small, dark and therefore seems oppressive, the whole house/apartment needs renovation. In addition, it does not have satellite/TV.The bathroom: There is only one bathroom in the hallway, which you have to share. But that alone is not what should be criticized. The bathroom was just dirty and also absolutely in need of renovation. It wasn't just that they forgot to clean it, it was really dirty. The view into the toilet was disgusting, there was hair on the toilet seat. The sink was also dirty, the shower bathtub was no exception. In addition: Only small people can stand in the bathtub, which was the only option for showering. All people taller than 1.70cm can only shower with contortions. What also needs to be mentioned: there is a woman living in the house who has neither relatives nor any other relationship to the pension owner. We didn't find out much about her except that she probably lives in the room next to the bathroom. The problem was that this woman appeared to have either advanced dementia or a mental disorder. Anyway, she wandered around the house all night, opening and closing doors and talking to herself. Sleep was out of the question, I lay awake for more than 2 hours! It was all very strange and the poor woman would probably be better off in another environment where she could be helped. You absolutely didn't feel comfortable in this dark hut. We were happy when we continued hiking early the next morning and were able to leave the accommodation behind us. We were able to stay in numerous other great guesthouses on the trip where we felt very comfortable!
