My wife and I spent 3 glorious days at this hotel. We stayed in the apartments down the street from the main location. The rooms are immaculate, modern and the deck we had gave us amazing views of the castle and the town. We would return any time and this was one of our favorite stops in our European trip. The restaurant is the best in Bacharach.

We had dinner at the Altkölnischer Hof.Unfortunately, we weren't entirely impressed by the food or service. The price-performance ratio and the quality were not right for us.

We ate here in August 2024. We actually wanted to celebrate my mother's birthday. This was not possible due to the mediocre service and the disastrous food. The service was a bit unprofessional from the start, the cutlery was carelessly thrown on the table, the drinks and food were placed at the beginning of the table and we were allowed to pass it through ourselves. However, the service was a bit quiet but overall friendly. The pork steaks we ordered were inedible as they were very dry. At first we were willing to order something else. Maybe the dry steaks were an exception. When we brought the waitress's attention to it, she said "okay, we'll take a look." It then took 10 minutes for someone from management to show up. However, the management lady was even more unprofessional than the service person. She said with a spiteful laugh that we would definitely pay, even if it didn't taste good and that we probably had bad taste. When we said no, she repeated herself. When we again said no, she said that we would definitely pay for the side dishes. You notice: we took exactly one bite of the steak and didn't eat any more. When we said no again, she cleared the plates, now almost crying, and said that she would never accept guests from outside (i.e. no hotel guests) anymore (as if we cared, we won't be coming back anyway). After that, no one showed up at the table. Now we are waiting for the bill. The fact that I am still writing this text at the table shows how disappointed I am and how unprofessional and aggressive the management lady was. When the bill came, which rightly didn't have any schnitzel, the waitress told us that the kitchen had actually checked the schnitzel and found it dry and had passed this on to management. But the whole thing probably only happened after the lady had insulted us so much. But neither she nor anyone else came out to apologize again. The whole experience shows absolute unprofessionalism. We certainly won't come back.
