A very nice cozy restaurant, we were allowed to choose a place to sit ourselves.A very nice dining room but that was the only thing. After waiting for more than half an hour for someone from the service, we left again. If it was full, I would understand that people would have to wait a little longer, but there were only a handful of guests who had food and drinks.Didn't drink or eat anything.

Excellent choice for a family stay in Triberg! The room was minimal, but we didn't go to Triberg to spend the day in it. However, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is friendly. …

We are a couple of Spanish tourists exploring the Black Forest to create content for our YouTube channel. After enjoying charming towns such as Neustadt, Baden-Baden and Gengenbach, we arrived at Triberg, that place that you see in the guidebooks and wonder if it is as beautiful as they say. And it is, with its giant cuckoo clocks, its waterfalls and its Black Forest museum... A true fairy tale! After an intense walk, we decided to recharge our batteries in a typical restaurant before continuing towards Freiburg. We saw a cozy place next to the road, which also had a menu in Spanish (poorly translated, of course, but you can't have everything). The restaurant had two dining rooms: a well-decorated one near the entrance and a simpler one inside. We arrived just at dusk, after the German lunch hour had passed and the main dining room was empty. We asked to sit there, but they told us it was reserved and sent us to the second dining room. I thought maybe we got the "other dining room" because we were Spanish, but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. My wife ordered a pork knuckle with garnish, and I, a game lover, opted for stewed wild boar with red fruits, adding a supplement of potatoes for three euros. With our hefe weizen beers on the table, we prepared to enjoy an epic dinner. But the reality was different. The waiter brought the plates, wished us to enjoy, and there was my order: an ocean of sauce with three tiny pieces of meat floating in a sea of red fruit reduction. Three pieces that, in Bilbao, would not even pass as a cover. We called the waiter and, very delicately, I commented that, for the price, it seemed more like a tasting dish than a main dish. I asked him to exchange it for another knuckle (without many expectations, but at least there was quantity). However, the waiter, with a kindness that bordered on hostility, replied that he was not the cook, so the dish remained.Somewhat perplexed, we decided to mention it to another waitress in the hope of a more understanding response. He asked us to wait a moment. But, instead of getting help, our waiter reappeared with a worse attitude, telling us that even if we didn't like it, we would still have to pay for it. At that moment, my wife, tired of the treatment, got up and went to the kitchen in search of someone with a minimum of empathy. But the waiter, with great fuss, tried to stop her, as if we were in an action movie. Finally, a woman appeared who introduced herself as the cook. Without saying a word, he took our plates away and told us to pay for our drinks and leave. The “chocolate house” turned out to be, in reality, a witch festival. We decided to leave and give up. Apparently we weren't welcome there, and that feeling I had at first turned out not to be paranoia. Although we will not upload the video out of respect for Triberg, we can say that, like in fairy tales, in the most beautiful places there is always a villain ready to spoil the experience. In this case, we were not Hansel and Gretel, but two hungry tourists attracted by a dreamy facade, only to discover that what awaited us inside was not exactly a happy ending.

Delicious food and good portions☺Attention update: We were back in the restaurant in the afternoon on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018 and wanted to eat at Mitrag. From our last visits we still remembered the extensive menu with lots of game dishes and delicious local cuisine. So we opened the menu hungry and full of anticipation and unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed. No sign of game. Local cuisine was available to some extent, but nothing more than the obligatory Kässpätzle or Schäufele could be found. A little frustrated and out of necessity (we were very hungry), we decided on schnitzel with fries and on the oven-warm vegetable strudel. The schnitzel was frozen and came from the fryer. The vegetable strudel, which was very straightforward for a main course, was also not homemade and was literally overwhelmed by the lavishly draped lettuce leaves. All in all, lower snack level. You should have known it, because the shop was completely empty when we arrived, and that at prime coffee time. The staff were very friendly, but seemed a bit helpless given the empty tables and the bleak general situation. It's a shame about this beautiful restaurant, we remembered it much better.

The Black Forest cake would have been given 5 stars, but the service staff was incredibly unfriendly, so we have rather negative memories of our visit to the restaurant.I observed him interacting with the other guests and he wasn't particularly friendly there either. If you don't feel like doing your job, you should look for something new but don't take your mood out on the paying customers. The bottom line is that this only damages the image of the restaurant.

The location is very nice and the waiter was very kind. The food came very quickly and the portions were very generous.Everything was delicious. The bill was ok considering that the restaurant is very close to the waterfall and that it is a tourist area.Payment by card was not possible. I don't know if this is a general rule or if it was just a problem that day.
