Review Camping SchwarzwaldhornRating: 1/5A long story, but I think it should be known. As two touring cyclists who spend a lot of time on their bikes and made a trip through the Black Forest and the Vosges, we had a negative experience here. Below is a report of our findings. I try to remain objective, but will most likely give an emotionally charged tone.Positive points:- Upon arrival we were kindly received and shown to our 'place'.- The campsite is well maintained, the facilities are exceptionally clean and practical, and the views are beautiful.Negative points:1. Incorrect washing instructions:We wanted to do our laundry and followed the instructions on the information sheet. Unfortunately there turned out to be an error, so we paid 5 euros for nothing. When we raised this with the manageress (who was standing next to us at the time), we were told that she had not seen anything and that we would therefore not get our money back. We then showed proof of payment (you pay by card). She then made up that they "couldn't get into the system."2. High prices:We initially had to pay 54 euros for one night, one very small tent and two people. This amount differed from the prices stated online. When we discussed this with the manageress, she referred us to her husband and refused to provide any further explanation. She also refused to come and look at our place and otherwise remained silent. It was embarrassing.3. Unfriendly service, threatening attitude and words:The manager's husband came later to discuss the problem. When I expressed my displeasure, we were asked to leave the campsite. I was indeed very grumpy in relation to his wife, with whom the two of us had already had a long conversation and who ignored us, made excuses and did not want to help. Furthermore, leaving was not an option for us because it was already 7:00 PM and my wife is pregnant and needs rest, something he knew. He clearly didn't care with his red, angry look. Ultimately we had to adapt to his conditions (read: I had to talk him down, calm him down) because it was not possible and irresponsible to find another place at that time. Who sends someone away in a tent at 7 o'clock in the evening in the mountains?4. There is no discount for pilgrims/walkers/cyclists:The campsite ultimately charges 36.40 euros for one tent, two people and no real place but a sloping hill. This is considerably higher than average, especially considering the location we were assigned, namely between bungalows, luxury tents and near a children's playground with Dutch 'entertainment' from morning to evening. That's not a place at all, they just want to make extra money. An air conditioner from one of those bungalows was blasting next to our ear all night long. A party across the village went on until midnight. Conclusion:Despite a later attempt by the owner to clarify the situation and eventual refund of the five euros plus the discount at this place, the experience remains incredibly negative. The loud, shouting, threatening voice to send us away with my wife next to me and her bulging belly was frightening. I then kept silent and swallowed for safety's sake.Without these events, the campsite would have received a 2.5/5 rating due to the neat facilities and beautiful surroundings. However, accommodation is far too expensive for cyclists and hikers and the camping sites are unfavorably located. This should be clearer.Don't come with a tent, don't come for peace and quiet. It seems optimally suited for Dutch families with children who want to party, be loud and sit together than for those seeking peace and quiet or adventurous travelers. Don't get me wrong: there's nothing wrong with this, but keep this in mind.
