Prof. Dr. Horst Seibert, Darmstadt, writes:Forest window? Never heard of it! Came across the Pension Schmitt in Waldfenster by chance. There windows actually opened (in our room they were as high as a man): we, city dwellers affected by particulate matter, were treated to mountain air flowing in, and the view was focused on a strangely beautiful landscape: large grass and pasture areas, often reaching up to mountain tops, some of which seemed like bare and partly forested volcanic cones look like (which they probably once were).With good tour advice from the Schmitts, we – my wife and I – set out to experience the Rhön. Only a few minutes away by car: the sophisticated Bad Kissingen and some of the remarkably numerous smaller spa and seaside resorts. The Rhön is rich in springs and healing water.By the way: When you turn on the tap in the Pension Schmitt, spring water flows towards you - in the hot summer of '24, it's definitely an alternative to the guest fridge filled with standard drinks.. During our eight-day vacation at Pension Schmitt, we were not able to visit all of the nearby churches and monasteries; There were high-profile ones among them, e.g. the fortified church in Ostheim. The Rhön people must have been very religious. Even above the entrance to the dining room of the Pension Schmitt: an unmissable cross. The breakfast prepared there is definitely top-notch, especially for coffee lovers, muesli fans and scrambled egg fans.What deserves a special mention: After all the excursions, after all the - literally - moving experiences with the country and its people, we found restful sleep in the beds of the Pension Schmitt: excellent mattresses that can cope with all human weight classes.Thanks to the Schmitt couple - neither of them the youngest anymore, but approachable, hard-working, friendly and very concerned about cleanliness and order. Compliment!

The last guesthouse, absolutely not recommended!Average breakfast, freezing cold in the apartment, no privacy, you get kicked out at 10 a.m. and reviews are answered with lies just because you can't handle criticism!!!

One of the best hotel experiences I have ever had in my life. I have never met a more caring and welcoming host. The breakfast is amazing and each morning it is fresh. The owners are some of the kindest people and take time out of their own day to make sure you have a great experience. The host sent me lists of things to do in the area one which I recommend is Flandungen which was such a cool experience. The location is great. So close to Bad Kissingen. Will definitely come back.

We were on our way to Bamberg and decided to book a hotel somewhere along the way.Fortunately found this hotel with very friendly owners.We were asked if we were going somewhere to eat something.We brought something with us and said we were going to eat something in the room. Since it was still quiet on Thursday and there were enough rooms, we were offered a larger room with a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom and 2 balconies, because there was a larger table there.And that for the same price.The breakfast was also very well prepared.The hotel is quietly located and definitely recommended.

A very nice, well-kept guesthouse in a quiet outskirts location with nice, attentive hosts.We had a large room with a terrace. And WiFi worked perfectly.The breakfast buffet was very tasty, and you could also order freshly prepared egg dishes.We would love to come back to the Schmitt family.

We spontaneously booked with the Schmitt family because we were visiting a friend in Bad Kissingen. The communication beforehand was incredibly friendly and helpful. Check-in is uncomplicated and the location of the guesthouse is simply fantastic and very quiet.Nice, very clean room and comfortable beds. We slept wonderfully.What we liked best was the personal contact with the hosts, who were interested in all of the guests and always made sure that everything was right. Overall very warm and pleasant. We'd love to come back!

The owners are very nice people and the reception is extremely friendly. The location of the guesthouse is excellent – very quiet, ideal for relaxing. There are also good parking options directly at the guesthouse.Our room was big enough and even had a terrace where we could enjoy the evenings. The bathroom was renovated and modern. An absolute highlight are the cutlery and wine glasses in the room - perfect for ordering a pizza and eating on the terrace.The breakfast was good and sufficient, there was everything you need for a good start to the day. Overall, Pension Schmitt is highly recommended and the price is unbeatable.We will be back definitely!

Hello, we 72/71 years spent a week in Waldfenster with the Schmitt family, a very nice welcome upon arrival. Mrs. and Mr. Schmitt are very friendly, breakfast was great, an egg of your choice every day, breakfast selection was great as always, again and again, highly recommended.

We stayed one night on our way back from northern Germany. Everything perfect. Value for money and kindness of the owner. Abundant breakfast and tranquility of the place. Very nice view from the room.

Even one star is too many!!!Friends booked a room. 2 adults without child. Then they asked if we could come over for breakfast. It said 10 euros per person. We thought well and ordered 2 adults and one child.Unfortunately, my friend received an email saying that she was canceling the entire room because we wanted to come for breakfast with a child. It wouldn't have been a problem to have breakfast somewhere else or just meet later.In disbelief, I called them again and asked if it was true that they no longer had a place to sleep and the answer was:(She already answered the phone with a stern tone)"SCHMITT!" (no hello, no good day...)I introduced myself and said: "Is it true that you canceled the entire room because we wanted to come for breakfast?"She said (still with a snippy tone): "I've sorted things out with the lady. There's nothing more to say!(Now the coronation)And just hang up!!!!!I'm horrifiedI will never recommend this guesthouse again!!! Keep your hands off it

We booked one night through booking.com and stated that we had a baby with us. We then received a message from the guesthouse asking whether the baby was sleeping through the night, otherwise there would be a problem. It was an absolute no-go to threaten consequences (otherwise we have a problem), and the choice of words was anything but friendly. Of course, we decided not to spend the night and found a friendlier house that welcomes everyone.
