A lovely little hotel with great service that offers more than you would expect at first glance. It has a great charm and you feel comfortable and welcome. The breakfast is plentiful and of good quality. The wellness area is the most surprising, and in a positive way - the pool is also big enough and everything in the areas is clean, well-maintained and you can relax really well.Simply a great hotel, with great service. We felt very comfortable.

2 nights over the weekend with children and family, wanted to explore the Harz region a bit and chose the hotel based on good reviews. The town itself is relatively small, but still offers plenty of restaurants and is a good starting point for a day trip to Thale, for example. There is not much to see in the town itself, the castle is beautiful, but is currently being renovated, otherwise there are many very lovingly restored houses, but unfortunately there is also a lot of vacancy. If you're not careful, this could look relatively bleak in a few years. The hotel is centrally located on the market square. The room was old fashioned but clean. Unfortunately very hot and no air conditioning, understandable since it's half-timbered. I'm always not a fan of carpet. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom large and newly renovated, very modern and chic, bathtub and shower. The highlight for us was actually the breakfast. Lots of choice, regional products, nicely prepared. The bread and rolls fell off a bit, bread was homemade but dry. The rolls are probably frozen, so I think there must be a Böcker who delivers them reasonably affordably. The indoor swimming pool was also very positive. Very large and well maintained, I don't know whether you still have to heat it here in midsummer and it's probably around 30 degrees inside. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to shower off before swimming in the swimming pool itself, only in the separate shower rooms, then you have to walk across the hallway while wet, which can't be expected that way. I think this is also worth considering in terms of hygiene. Unfortunately we had 2-3 experiences with drinks/food that resulted in a deduction. One Spezi was completely inedible and tasted like Vita Cola had been mixed with Sprite. Strangely enough, the other drinks tasted normal. Possibly. something was stale here. The same applies to the cream of a dessert, it tasted very fermented. We were accidentally served 2 shandy instead of 2 pilsners, when we were told we had ordered pilsner they just said that the shandy was bonong. Apparently reluctantly, the Radler was then taken back and replaced. I thought I would make it clear that we are of course asking for a free exchange. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I got home that I noticed that the Radler still appeared on the bill. Unfortunately, we always felt a bit thrown out and unwelcome in the restaurant in the evening because breakfast was set up early. There was still a bit of activity going on in the surrounding shops at the time. Even at mealtime the crowd was always manageable, which is why we also ate outside twice. Otherwise the staff is mostly friendly. There are no real professionals at work, at least in terms of service, but I would expect that in a house like this. Especially considering the prices quoted. 2 double rooms and 1 single room for 2 nights over €1000, only breakfast plus. Beverages. Unfortunately, the single room in particular was far too small and not worth the money. An upgrade would have cost a disproportionate surcharge. You can hardly sell such a small room as such and here too the price was €90 per night. I would actually recommend the house for overnight stays in the surrounding area, e.g. when traveling through on a motorbike. Praise for the reservation process, prices and offers were well communicated and Ms. Müller was very friendly in the correspondence.

My rating refers purely to the restaurant operation. My wife and I stayed at the Stolberger Hof this weekend and also had dinner. The service was very nice and really tried hard.I ordered a schnitzel with fries for €19. When it came, I was a little pale because of the mini schnitzel strips that the nice waitress served me. The plate should have been on the menu as “French fries with a hint of schnitzel strips in a generous breading”.The next time the waitress came to the table, we were already finished with the small portion. My wife had chicken breast with tagliatelle and Mediterranean vegetables. Since the plates were not preheated (they were ice cold), the noodles were of course immediately cold.As we were clearing up the waitress asked nicely if everything was OK. I said: "It tasted very good, but that was the smallest schnitzel I've ever had in my life, because you shouldn't actually send this little breaded end piece as a schnitzel." and showed her my photo of the plate again . If you peel off the breading, there was really hardly any meat left in it.She agreed with me and wanted to pass it on inside. When she came out again, the evening was actually over for us. The message we received from inside was: "You shouldn't have finished eating and we're not a schnitzel house here, we always shop like that." Well, that's just the way it is. No apologies from inside, no Schierker or espresso on the house, the waitress was really sorry about that too. We pay 150€ for the night, 60€ for dinner for two and then you get a “slap in the face” as a guest in response to a nicely expressed criticism when the waitress asks.We talked for a while with the waitress (who probably stepped in as a temporary helper) about the problems in the restaurant, paid and then went to the bistro opposite.A great and nice host there made us a quick pizza so that my wife and I were full and we then spent a good and fun evening there with a few beers and local schnapps. That's how gastronomy works. 👍🏻At Stolberger Hof, at least as far as the evening business is concerned, there is a gap between the expectations that the menu and prices suggest and the reality of what ends up on the plate. I'd rather pay €25 for a schnitzel with fries and get a schnitzel than pay €19 (also a lot of money) and then get a kid's schnitzel with a snap answer that you're not a schnitzel house. Then take it off the map.
