Boutique hotel Quedlinburg Auerhahn

ATTENTION, not in Quedlinburg! Youth hostel level, just dirtier.Our story begins even before we arrive. We searched and found something for my father's 76th birthday in Quedlinburg via Booking. It should be “Capercaillie”. The navigation system took us through Quedlinburg and 7 kilometers further to Bad Suderode! Ok, it's a health resort, that should be true. But with nieces, Bad Suderode is an extinct health resort. Just one! Restaurant is open, almost all hotels are closed, spa building, swimming pool and retail: closed! Now to our hotel: as I continue to explain, always keep the room price of €110.00 per night in mind. The room was on the ground floor at the entrance from the parking lot to the hotel. Unfortunately, the roller shutters had to remain closed at all times. The rooms obviously haven't been cleaned for a long time. (see Trip Advisor pictures) WiFi is not available. The breakfast exceeds anything I've seen in the last 30 years. (see pictures Trip Advisor) Yoghurt cups, cheapest sausage and cheese. Coffee doesn't deserve the name. The highlight was the liver sausage on my plate that had expired for 10 days. Answer: we bought it fresh, it's the dealer's fault. Daily room cleaning was limited to trash cans. No cleaning, no making the bed, nothing! I could keep writing like this until my fingers glow. Since I have been a restaurateur for 30 years, I am embarrassed that something like this is possible in Germany in 2021 and it has become clear to me why Bad Suderode is dying out.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel! The room was excellent, breakfast had enough choice and fresh fruits/food. The employees are very nice and kind and always willing to help if needed.The Region is very nice with beautiful nature and calming surroundings. If your looking for a quality stay in the Harz region, we absolutely recommend this hotel.Hope to be back next year!

Unfortunately, we had similar negative experiences such as the lack of cleanliness in the rooms and squeaky bed frames, which have already been described in other reviews. In addition, the hotel WiFi does not seem to be particularly powerful, which is not helpful when planning hiking routes with Komoot in a region with poor LTE network expansion.The breakfast should be highlighted positively. The dining room was nicely decorated and the buffet selection was good. However, this cannot outweigh the existing problems.

Unfortunately I have to inform you that we were not really satisfied with our stay. First of all, the check-in time was nowhere to be seen, when we asked over the phone they couldn't even answer us when we could check in at the latest. Then we were given the wrong room twice in a row, which was only intended for one person at a time...these rooms were outrageously small. Then it was said that if we wanted two rooms with one bed each, we would have to pay for two rooms. I booked in advance for TWO people!On the third attempt we finally got a double room. None of the rooms corresponded to the pictures shown on booking. We definitely didn't get the apartment described there either. Although there is an apartment on the ground floor on the confirmation. The first two rooms were on higher floors. We were only told how to unlock the door. We had to ask everything ourselves. I was sent countless emails via Booking. I was told to check in online, even though I had already checked in on site, then I received emails about checkout and then "We hope you had a pleasant stay with us"...we have only just arrived! The email would be more appropriate on the day of departure and not on the day of arrival. What's particularly inappropriate is that their emails welcome us to Amsterdam...but we're definitely not in Amsterdam, but in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The phone number given on Booking is also from the Netherlands. The hotel's telephone number would be appropriate, but you then have to laboriously find it yourself on the Internet. One of these emails also said checkout would be by 11 a.m., but the employee on site said no later than 10 a.m. Which statement is correct?! You can't plan anything like that. The WiFi promised on Booking is also not available; according to your employee, this is still “in progress”. Then you shouldn't advertise WiFi on Booking. Unfortunately the cleanliness was also poor. There were stains everywhere in the bathroom on the floor, the grout lines are dirty, if not moldy. The carpet in the room also doesn't seem to have been vacuumed. Apparently they also forgot to refill facial tissues. The remote control was also broken and after a short time the television stopped working at all. To turn it on and off you have to get out of bed and walk to the TV. Your employee was barely recognizable as one, he looked more like a janitor and walked around with Chroks and seemed to have no idea at all. On Anrwise day he said that this hotel had only had a new owner since the beginning of October. Today on the day of departure he spoke to us and told us how good it was for us to go on vacation and that he hadn't had that for years and every day has to work. Sorry, but you don't talk about things like that with guestsYou look in vain for a notice about breakfast times or something similar. There is an information folder in the room, but there is only a piece of cardboard inside.Be honest about the room size and furnishings, otherwise others like us will be frightened when entering the room.One bed squeaked so loudly that we could hardly sleep, it was very uncomfortable anyway and everything hurt after that short night.Unfortunately there are a few things to note regarding breakfast. Wobbly garden tables were used as tables. Visually inappropriate and also very bad to eat because everything wobbles. The buffet selection was very small and unfortunately there was hardly any signage/labeling. This is particularly necessary for sausage and cheese. There are only five tables, but there are actually significantly more rooms, it was surprising that we got a table straight away. The breakfast wasn't particularly tasty, but at least you could eat something.

On the whole completely sufficient.

I have never been to Germany before, but this experience made it worthwile to go back again. Lovely people in a very cute and tidy hotel.

Very friendly staff, nice and clean bedrooms, a delicious breakfast and a very unique location. Definitely a place where we want to come back more often! Definitely recommended for everyone!
