I am only reviewing the hotel and not the restaurant as we only stayed overnight. Unfortunately the rooms are extremely old. A renovation would be appropriate here. The old stained carpet and wallpaper are not comfortable. However, everything is extremely clean and the beds are comfortable. The hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is served at the table and there is no buffet. That didn't bother us, but you should perhaps let us know beforehand or make it known on the homepage, as some people might not think it's that great. Overall it was OK for one night, but since the rooms are in such need of renovation, I wouldn't want to stay longer. It's a shame, because the host qualities are really excellent!

Wonderful restaurant with warm hosts. Outstanding cuisine, very courteous professional service. Every dish was very tasty, both the starters and the main courses and desserts. Ambience is cozy. There is free parking in front of the door. The location is central in Lauffen.

Super nice and quiet atmosphere, incredibly nice team - from the waitress to the chef, who also came out to us briefly to make sure everything was good. The food was a delight. We were completely thrilled and will definitely come back.

The Elephant Restaurant has been on my to-go list for a while and I wouldn't be disappointed.Regional cuisine with modern influences is served in a nice, stylish, family atmosphere. The menu is clear, but convinces with variety. Actually everyone should be able to find something on it.We started our evening with beef broth with flädle (pancake strips for all non-Swabians) and baked goat cheese. We continued with lamb in a herb mustard crust, and duck breast for the lady of the evening. The main courses were also well prepared, the meat and poultry were done well and the jus with the dishes was excellent.Actually, we would have been full here, but unfortunately there is no way around the classic Coup Danmark dessert.Delicious ice cream, cream topping and great chocolate sauce with a hint of Grand Marnier. The service was very friendly, nice and reserved. Really very pleasant. We can't comment on the wine/spirits list as neither of us needed one. We also didn't use the sanitary facilities or the hotel. Conclusion for the elephant: Great ambience, excellent food, very friendly service, great price / performance ratio, considering the high quality food you get.Clearly recommended to visit. We'd love to come back.

Went to the restaurant for dinner today and were very impressed with the quality of the dish. 1 x roast and 1x cod on risotto. We'd love to come back. Thank you for the kind words.

The elephant could be described as a culinary insider tip.It is a real family business, where Mr. Glässing is in the kitchen while Mrs. Glässing is responsible for the service. The cuisine impresses with its high level of craftsmanship and selected ingredients. The cooking style has down-to-earth roots, but is still refined and innovative without relying on showmanship. The service is extremely professional, coupled with a lot of warmth, which is rarely experienced in this form. The furnishings seem a bit “old-fashioned”, but that also adds to the charm of the place.Of course you pay a little more than in a simple pub, but you also get a lot more in return. It is noticeable that the restaurant is mostly visited by older guests, although I think that it could also be attractive for a younger, culinary-interested audience. In summary, I can unreservedly recommend the elephant.
