The Pension am Schloss is not that easy to find at first because the navigation system doesn't know the new one-way street regulations. But once you arrive, you realize that the guesthouse is actually in close proximity to the castle. Ms. Irene Stark's service is extremely friendly and accommodating. The single room was large enough, one point was deducted for the extremely economical dimensions of the bathroom and because there was no window, only two skylights in the ceiling. There is nothing wrong with the cleanliness and the furniture. But the absolute highlight is the breakfast that Irene Stark prepares for her guests! Freshly boiled eggs, cocktail sausages, smoked salmon and lots of jams and cold cuts for the fresh rolls on Sunday! All of this in a lovingly decorated breakfast room with individual service is something you wouldn't expect here. Full marks for that!

From the outside the guesthouse doesn't look like much. When I first entered it I thought to myself "Oh dear, where did you end up here?" when I saw the rooms I was very surprised, very clean and comfortable, the breakfast buffet was very rich and the hostess was very helpful too very polite, I immediately liked him.

The best description of the experience is that everything is done with love.The rooms are nice, the breakfast is fantastic. Some hotels can learn a lot here.Contrary to some other reviews, I have to say that the pub can't be heard in the rooms at all.It was a very pleasant stay and I look forward to the next time.

The guesthouse is very conveniently located to reach the center on foot, and the price/performance ratio is also great (very good breakfast). The only downside is the pub on the ground floor with live music. But we were informed of this in advance by the very nice landlady.

Owner very friendly and accommodating. We were helped to carry our luggage up. Rooms are very clean and quiet, I didn't hear anything from the pub on the ground floor even though we were there during the weekend. There was a huge selection at breakfast. Something for everyone. The owner brought something extra for our little daughter for breakfast.If we are in Altenburg again we will definitely stay there again.

The rooms are equipped with double beds and have separate bathrooms. Everything is super clean and the landlady “Mrs. Meyer” takes excellent care of her guests. The breakfast buffet is super great and very tasty. So I will book there again on my next visit to Altenburg.

I can only agree with the other reviews, Ms. Maier is very nice, the rooms are cozy and clean, the breakfast has a lot to choose from, is super tasty and very lovingly prepared. If we come to Altenburg again, we'll try to get a room here again

Price-performance ratio is very good, it is a simple, lovingly run accommodation that is very clean and well/honestly managed. We were made aware of the restaurant on the ground floor, but we didn't notice it during our overnight stay!!!!! The breakfast was TOP!!!!! We would stay here again and wish the operator all the best 👍👍👍👍👍

Unfortunately it is not worth another visit. Too small and the double room only has separate beds. A chair and no table. Bathroom in need of renovation.The tenant does her best but is let down by the owner.Breakfast was OK, but it's not worth it.We will look for something else next time we stay.
