Best place to stay in Altenberg especially if you are a winter athlete. The beds are very comfortable and the food is very delicious. You are not allowed to be on diet because the desserts as all the food are home made so you must eat them. The owners are one of the kindest people I know and always ready to help. So if in Altenberg than in Jugendherberge!

We stayed in Altenberg with our 6-year-old son for 5 days and had a spacious family room with a kitchenette (great for storing a few groceries in the fridge and being able to prepare a snack) and our own bathroom. Everything was super clean and in perfect order. The Weinberg family gave us a very friendly welcome and gave us helpful tips for our stay. We were able to easily borrow various things that we hadn't thought of before. The youth hostel is located a little outside the city center, but close to the gallows pond to cool off in summer. You can also go on hikes or MTB tours (e.g. on the Blockline) from there. The food (HP) was varied and plentiful; Fruit and vegetables were offered fresh every day. On the day of departure we were even driven to the train station because we were traveling by public transport. We felt very comfortable and will definitely come back!

My little sister is allergic and we discussed everything with the youth hostel and sent a long list of what she can eat. She had to organize everything on site and they didn't do anything on their own, which you might expect on a school trip. When she didn't specifically ask, she didn't get anything for dinner. But the cook was very nice.

We were now in the ninth year as MSV Handball Dresden with our offspring in the training camp in the JH with the Weinberg family and once again felt completely comfortable. The Weinberg family is flexible and is constantly working to improve themselves and the service. Every year we find something that has been renovated or is completely new. Our (special) requests (meal times/menu/number of participants) are always taken into account and whatever is possible is made possible. In addition, the Weinberg family is seriously interested in our feedback and suggestions for improvement. The bed linen was definitely not changed before arrival, there were urine stains on the sheets and they didn't smell good either, but the service was okay.

The accommodation was our salvation to escape from everyday life for a few days at short notice and we were super happy that everything worked out so well. Be it the extension by one day, the great food (kids loved it) and the extra breakfast for early risers👍, the great room, it all helped a lot to regain some strength. We felt warmly looked after! Thank you very much on behalf of the whole family🥰

Beautiful youth hostel with a dedicated team. The overnight stay is very inexpensive, but there are small compromises in the quality of the food. Bicycle rooms available to lock your bikes. Also table tennis tables, table football, volleyball court and soccer field. Everything you need for a training camp with youth groups.
