Rooms are spacious and bright with some renovations. But bathroom is a bit outdated. I agree with the previous review that it’s a bit difficult to check in, because of the very bad connection to call the hostess. But once you reach her, it’s straightforward, find the key and you are in. The breakfast was basic, but when we asked for more butter and cheese, we got it immediately. It’s a nice place in a quiet corner. In general all of our accommodations in Harz were mediocre. So we were happy with the good Matratzen and close vicinity to a restaurant:)

Unfortunately our worst stop on the tour on the Hexenstieg. Service was virtually non-existent as we didn't see anyone when we arrived. We were told to dial a phone number, which only worked with luck as neither of us had a network on the property. Room ok, bed squeaked, no proper door to the bathroom, some things in need of repair. WiFi worked very poorly. Breakfast is also no more than mediocre. Rolls soft, little choice, the only banana already black. The owner was very polite when we paid in the morning.

There was no way to attach the shower head in the shower and the shower jet couldn't be changed, everything was simply defective. The toilet bowl is not stable. The mattress was good but the pillow was terrible. One had the feeling that not much had happened since Fontane's stay. But one thing the WiFi worked. I would recommend with reservations.

Nice room, there are a few things broken in the bathroom, the toilet bowl is unstable. The pillows are a disaster. Breakfast is good and plentiful.

Stayed at Haus Rodenstein on my hike through Hexenstieg(end of Etappe 4, begin of Etappe 5). Upon arrival I called the owner and got clear instructions on how to retrieve the keys. Room was spacious and clean, in the room was a double bed and also a sofa.We had dinner at Cafe Fontane with the ‘half pension’ option, 12 euro per adult for a 3 course meal, it was super delicious and filling, 10/10.Breakfast is included and was quite good, perfect start for our long day of hiking ahead. All in all high recommendation!

Price performance is really good, room was clean and the location is very relaxing as it is extremely quiet. This is especially great at night.A few little things such as: E.g. a splashing faucet in the bathroom and perhaps. We noticed a missing trash can not only in the bathroom but also in the room, but the rest was really fine. Thanks!

We booked a room for one night via the hotel's website for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 dog. The big thing came on the day of arrival. When we wanted to register, they were shocked that we were traveling with a dog. Nevertheless we were accepted. The next day the owners let off steam on us, even though we had previously registered via the booking portal that we were traveling with a dog and also received a booking confirmation from them. We didn't feel welcome from the start. On the website it clearly states that a dog costs €5 per night, nothing about the dog on request. And the reasons from her side were just excuses. So if you're looking for accommodation with a dog, you're not welcome here...sad to have to experience something like that...

Spent a night here on our hike along the Harzer Hexenstieg. Booked in advance via the homepage because dogs are apparently allowed, it says dogs cost 5 euros so it is assumed that dogs are allowed. Also received a confirmation. When we arrived in the evening they said dogs were not allowed, but since we had already paid a deposit we were still allowed to stay. But you didn't feel very welcome. The next day at breakfast she was very unkindly warned that what we did wasn't possible, dogs are not allowed only on request, she just didn't have time to change it yet because she has other things to do than always sit at the computer, and we should have called ahead.Treating your paying guests like that is not possible. If you don't have time for online activities, you can't offer this option.Room was ok, visually clean but lots of cobwebs with spiders, breakfast ok.

It is exactly the right accommodation for active people. If you are looking for inexpensive accommodation in a quiet location with extremely friendly staff and a good breakfast, this is the right place for you! It's not a luxury new building, but it has all the charm and the price-performance ratio is just right. We've already been there on our bikes and are looking forward to the next overnight hike!Room was very large, check-in was very easy, everything was clean and in acceptable condition.Always my pleasure
