Unfortunately very unclean and poor hygiene. The wall in the shower room is moldy, lots of spiders and other creepy crawlies. The location is great, you could really get a lot out of this guesthouse! But this price without WiFi access and without cleanliness is really not a good ratio.

A very simple room, which would be ok at this price of 52.50. But neither WiFi nor mobile data reception. The TV in the room didn't work either, the window was broken and the cleanliness was also borderline. It's a shame, actually a great historic house and a great location. In better condition it would be ideal for pilgrims, hikers or cyclists.

Downstairs is one of Bad Säckingen's two tourist information centers, just 10 steps to the longest covered wooden bridge in Europe. The wooden construction that was common at the time was destroyed several times by ice, floods and wars. The stone pillars were built in the 16th century and were renovated in the mid-20th century. The wooden structure was built in the 18th century by the well-known bridge builder Blasius Baldischwiler. The pillars had to be replaced between 1960 and 1964 because the construction of the power plant resulted in the river bed sinking by over three meters. In short, you live right in the middle of the pretty old town. In the past, two historical personalities have had a decisive influence on life in Bad Säckingen and the world's knowledge of the city: St. Fridolin, who came to the High Rhine as a missionary in the early Middle Ages and founded a double monastery on the Säckingen Rhine Island - and the poet Joseph Victor von Scheffel, who brought the city's name into the literary history of the 19th century with his verse epic “The Trumpeter of Säkkingen”.
