Prices in the restaurant are good, as is the location. However, the service was so unfriendly that we won't come here again. We were with a baby and my companion went to the toilet briefly after we had already paid. Harsh comment from the waitress when I was waiting at the table with the baby and our backpacks from hiking: “You guys have to clear the table here, there are other people waiting” - outrageous.

There is nothing nicer in terms of staff, hotel, food and the area. We were there for 11 days. The welcome was warm and you felt welcome from the first minute. The staff always went out of their way to ensure that the guests had a pleasant stay. The food was a dream...it's unbelievable what the chef always conjures up from the pot. Despite hiking, I gained 4 kg in the 11 days.I can only say a great holiday and take my hat off to the staff who made it possible to give me such a wonderful holiday in such weather and the 3G rules.I looked at a lot of people and was amazed at how many there are and are already full of grace coming there to get something to eat. Such people don't have to be surprised if the staff comes back. My advice to people like that is to stay at home...no one needs that. If you are looking for a better hotel and don't like the rustic look, you should look for a 5 star hotel. It also costs a lot more... that was for everyone who just complains. We were thrilled and would go there again and again....it couldn't be better for the money....a dream....Thanks to the whole team at the Willy Merkel House.LGAndreas and Corinna

Contrary to other opinions here, we can only give a full recommendation. We stayed here with 2 couples for 2 nights last weekend and are completely satisfied with our choice. Both double rooms were newly renovated with top facilities, our double room with a balcony and a view of Lake Spitzingsee. The rooms were clean, comfortably furnished with a double bed, table, chairs, wardrobe, chest of drawers, sofa bed and television, what more do you need. The great location and the large terrace invite you to eat and drink. The dishes we ordered were sufficient and tasty, and the service was very friendly and quick. We also had very friendly personal contact with the owner couple during our stay.A lot has already been reported about breakfast, enough cheese, sausage, jam, quark, fruit, tomatoes, eggs,...The mountain inn is simply a recommendation and we will use it more often.

Unbelievable attitude from an old man who happened to be the first person who I met.A short, friendly question of a possiblity for a take away food annoyed him so much, that he started shouting at me for absolutely no reason. What ever the answer is, a friendly way to tell would be absolutely enough.Unfortunately I didnt get his name as he literally barked me out of this place. The level of the unprofessional attitude you can read in every message the owner is responding publicly to in the google reviews. (seems like the whole house is trained by the elderly man)For example as you can read in his answer- he would put me in “the list of the worst customers” only because I asked one friendly question which is totally up to their daily business and I was not happy that customer is treated absolutely rude for nothing. And as you wish to talk facts- no problem with that: kitchen is right at the entrance door (which were all open at the time i was there) no deviders, no signs. Anyone can walk in by an accident especially someone older or a child. I am a young woman and it happened to me so easily- i was only looking for someone who works here. If you don’t want that to happen, you should think for a solution.Even more- there is a bar table right in front of you when you enter and this obviously is not a kitchen but beverage area. I was standing in front of this bar table, not behind it , not in the kitchen in front of any food preparation areas. It was an open space easy to be mixed up for a waiting area. Kitchen clearly starts at around the corner on your left side. So you can’t actually blame me that i was only having a walk in your kitchen. Please be so kind and don’t do any more damage to your business writing such rude nonsense answers, better invest time and money for an PR education for yourself at first and also your staff that is up to 21. Century standards. And you, your business and your staff will only benefit from that 100%.As long as you cannot review me as your most horrible 30 seconds guest who entered one corner of your “kitchen” and asked if you do Take aways- for now- thanks for nothing. Bye.
