Im Sure this place is easily reachable by Ski but we hiked Up all the way from Mittenwald and the View is wonderful. It's a Hike I can definitely recommend even though its a Bit short (~2 hours).The Hut has a nice Look and the staff is Kind. It's seems to be Run by the Family alone.They have everything you could Wish for. Something good to eat and a few Drinks.Just make Sure you get there early enough as they didnt have much food anymore when we got Up there.Advice: You can sleep there but you'll need a reservation.The prices are also really okay.

After reading about the unfriendliness and negative atmosphere here, I unfortunately feel confirmed with my experience. The food and drinks are good and the prices are reasonable, but the negative mood of the innkeepers spoils your mood a bit. It's a shame because everything around is so beautiful!

We stopped by there for a short rest while climbing the Karwendel. The prices for the drinks were very reasonable and cheaper than in some cafes. Staff was also very nice. Gladly again!

We started in Mittenwald at half past 600 in the morning and after a strenuous hike we were there: a beautifully situated hut above a scree field. The buttermilk is highly recommended.

The Dammkarhütte is beautifully situated between steep rock faces, below the Pfarrstuhl. Well signposted from Mittenwald train station on foot in about 3 hours and can be reached on safe routes.The innkeeper has a somewhat rustic charm, but the food and drinks are okay.

Due to the negative reviews, we implemented our tour differently so as not to create a negative mood in the group.Later in town, the negative reviews were confirmed by other visitors. Thanks to everyone who saved us this and contributed to a great vacation!

Nice pitstop on the hike. The signs in Mittenwald seemed like very low-velocity estimates, took 1.5h to get up here instead of the 3h they said, and I wasn't walking particularly fast.

A fantastically located hut above Mittenwald.Only accessible on foot and fitness required.The view when the weather is nice is amazing.I didn't spend the night but just took a drinking break on the way to the Karwendelspitze. Prices for drinks are totally okay.Anyone who can should make the effort.

A rustic cabin accessible only to hikers. The route from the valley to the hut is beautiful and easy to walk. However, the route from the hut to the Karwendel is not that easy due to scree etc.

We were also there with a larger group. Despite the rain and thunderstorms and the fact that we were completely soaked as a group, the innkeeper had refused to let us in. We would all have eaten and drank, but apparently the unfriendly operator didn't feel the need to welcome us as guests. Really a shame. Clearly NOT a recommendation to go there.
