The rooms are very noisy, you have to hear every conversation in the hallway and the stomping in the room above us was really annoying. The hot water pressure was a disaster, we couldn't shower without involuntary contrast showers. And at breakfast there were no more “normal” rolls at the buffet before half past ten. When asked, the service person said: “The other guests were there earlier.” When I asked, "If you don't come at the right time, you have to eat what's left?" I literally heard from her: “That’s it!”. I didn't remember that there was still more than half an hour left for breakfast and that we were definitely there at the right time; I don't want to start the day with discussions like that.Our room was visually quite appealing, but that all fades into the background. We certainly won't be coming back.

Very nice and comfortably furnished hotel with a great view of Mittenwald. Staff was very friendly, breakfast was rich. The concept of checking in yourself is a bit unconventional but well implemented.

A very quiet accommodation. In addition, the room was clean and well laid out.The view from the balcony is very romantic and oriented towards the Karwendel. The breakfast buffet is small, but more than sufficient. In addition, the view from the dining room is beautifully oriented towards the Karwendel. Price is also more than ok. (Early bird is always better)

The hotel is located looking out on Mittenwald and the Karwendel mountain and is blessed with amazing views. The steep walkway out the front allows access to the town centre at a 1km walk. Car access is at the back, having some serious stairs to conquer with your luggage. Reception is only present in the morning, so at arrival you're on your own finding your way on the stairs indoors and out. The room is clean but ours barely offered storage, we kept our cases out on the balcony. The mattress is hard and the pillows typically German, look impressive but fall flat when you lay your head. Shower is good, plenty of pressure.We were missing a fridge in the room. Breakfast buffet is good, fresh products but simple. Flexibility and friendliness of the managing staff could(should) be better.

This hotel is considered to be the most appropriately named in Matemwald. It features an open terrace to the garden that overlooks one of the most beautiful landscapes in Bavaria.The manager is the owner of this historical hotel, and she made sure that we felt like we were at home. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and cozy. It didn’t feel like I was staying at a hotel that was typical.The breakfast was very good and the owner made sure that every one of my family members felt at home.I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Mittenwald.

Very nice staff, clean rooms and cozy public lounges in the dragon castle and in the garden area. We didn't use the wellness area, the reception was only open until midday. What was new for us was that the exchange of towels was priced at €1. The location is excellent, wonderful view of Mittenwald and Karwendel.
