Very modern and well-kept youth hostel. The Hohenstaufen castle ruins are within walking distance. Great view from the dining room, where there is a rich breakfast buffet. It should also be mentioned that there is the possibility of spending the night in tree houses. Something completely different for families with children! I'll keep that in mind...

The introduction for Juhe newcomers could be a little more extensive, but you can also find your way around on your own. Breakfast very tasty!

We stayed at the Hohenstaufen youth hostel for a weekend. We had booked a tree house, it was sufficiently equipped, the toilets were in a separate hut, unfortunately only one each. There were additional sanitary facilities in the house. Unfortunately, the showers were flooded when we wanted to take a shower, which made things a bit difficult. As long as the weather is good and you could make good use of the outdoor facilities, the fairly large number of people got lost. When it rained cats and dogs on the second evening, the few very small lounges in the main building were quickly occupied and the group rooms were of course used for other purposes. This made it difficult for us to sit down and play in the evenings with our friends, with whom we had specially arranged to meet at the JHB for the weekend. There was no way the four of us could have squeezed into one of our two-person treehouses. Here you should really think of a solution for the tree house residents, either a suitable lounge or at least a covered outdoor area. The terrace in front of the canteen was only protected by parasols, not enough for the rain, and we were driven out of the dining room by the employees despite the heavy rain. Unfortunately, the young woman at reception didn't seem particularly motivated or warm. She often appeared helpless and clueless to our questions. We explored the "mountain rally" that the JHB offered, but they couldn't even tell us where the best place to start was. And if the JHB is supposed to maintain a more informal, informal approach (you), shouldn't the staff also represent this to the outside world? I was greeted directly by all employees...The food was comparatively good, the ladies in the kitchen tried very hard to accommodate all of the guests' requests, the dining room was always attractive and the dishes were appetizing.All in all, a modern house with a bit of potential for improvement.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. However, there are a few minor criticisms from my side:1. FoodWe booked breakfast and dinner for 1 adult, 1 child and 1 toddler (free). I think it's way too expensive! (29€ for the child, 41€ for me per day!!!) Breakfast hardly any choice, I would have expected that for that price there would be 2 juices to choose from and several coffees as well as a selection of warm dishes (scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, fresh Omelette, pancakes…). There were only eggs on 2 out of 3 days, once boiled eggs and once an omelet. I also found the selection of fruit and vegetables too small.Dinner was always at most lukewarm. For the price I would expect hot food here and also child-friendly food. My children always only ate the side dish, i.e. pasta or rice. Fish fingers, chicken nuggets… all small children actually eat them. But taste good. The freshness of the salad can be worked on, I saw some brown spots here.2. child-friendlyThe youth hostel is explicitly advertised as family-friendly/child-friendly.In my opinion, there are some opportunities for improvement here.For example, there are no seat reductions for toilets, at least not where we always used the toilet. My children are 5 and 2, and the little one sometimes likes to go to the toilet, which is very difficult without an attachment. The big one can do it without it, but only recently. There is also no possibility to change diapers (changing room?), at least I didn't find it, apparently there is a changing table in the disabled toilet.The “playroom” is much too small and cramped with the large tables in it, there is no space to really play if there are more than 4 children in there. The selection of toys is also rather poor, for example Duplo or Lego are missing, and in general there is hardly any offering for smaller children (selection of board games is great, but not of interest to us). What I find a big point of criticism is the refrigerator there, which simply had beer in it during our stay. For me, this simply has no place in a children's room and has to be placed differently.Outdoor activities for small children can be added. For example, a swing would be great and an awning for the sandpit. Mine had a lot of fun with the slides down from the tree houses.3. Rooms/general public spaces/staff…Room was clean, toilets too. The dining room was also always tidy. Bed linen is included in the price and is handed out upon check-in, which I thought was fine. I was also able to book a travel cot for free. What is unpleasant and annoying, however, is that there is no suitable duvet cover for the children's bed linen. So I had to cover the small blanket with the huge duvet cover.Typically in youth hostels, food is self-service and the tables have to be cleared and wiped yourself. The staff is very friendly, our bottles were washed upon request.4. LocationThe location is very nice. You can go on a lot of excursions, we looked out a lot of things but only did a fraction of them. Göppingen is a beautiful city, the short detour into the city was a nice excursion. Child-friendly restaurants on the market square, a beautiful little stream where children can splash around in warm weather. The small zoo is cute, Märklineum is definitely worth a visit in bad weather, as is the nearby indoor playground in Adelberg (about 20 minutes by car from the hostel).

Super nice youth hostel!In principle, it is an all-round perfect youth hostel for teenagers, young adults and adultsIt is advertised as family-friendly, but there are no suitable duvet covers for the baby bed, so there is a lot of material in the travel cot and that is a bit clumsy and dangerous for such small childrenThe food is super tasty but rather unsuitable for small children. We are here with 4 children (1x 5 years, 1x 4.5 years and 2x almost 2 years)And it's a bit difficult for the kids to find something suitable even though they're actually not picky. And this despite the fact that the larger 2 are charged 29 euros in half board.Which child of that age eats and drinks enough for two meals to justify the price?Then fries, nuggets, fish fingers or anything else that children of that age like to eat would be niceUnfortunately, it remains with dry pasta and some cooked carrot or broccoliFor this and for the soundproofing of the rooms I deduct two stars.There is a skate pipe in front of our room and unfortunately it is quite loud. People also like to use it in the evenings, as does the leisure room opposite the roomThe doors slam, people skateboard and shout in the hallways.That's a bit unfortunate when you have small children who want to go to bed around 7 p.mOtherwise it is a super nice, clean and well-kept hostel with extremely comfortable beds, friendly staff and great facilities and a super nice outdoor areaWhen the kids are older we will definitely come back!Addendum: it is now 10 p.m. and the children are still unable to sleepOur room door has already beeped 3 times because someone “accidentally” stood at the wrong door with their room card.In the meantime, we kindly asked the skaters to stop, but now the children are running across the meadow and screaming. Parents sit at the sandpit or campfire and ignore their "noisy" children. A mother screams right outside our bedroom window.I kindly pointed out tired children through the open window and was laughed at.It's a shame, I actually know from other youth hostels that people respect and consider each other. Somehow everything seems a little different and more indifferent here.I would love to deduct another star, but this beautiful house simply doesn't deserve that.Just at the moment someone is running across the hallway with squeaky soles.That's just crap and inconsiderate.We are tired - goodnight
